Abstract: An ankle brace with a removable plate comprising a stirrup having a bottom portion and an inner and outer upright leg depending upward therefrom. An inner pivot leg is pivotally attached to an upper end of the inner upright leg of the stirrup and an outer pivot leg is pivotally attached to an upper end of the outer upright leg of the stirrup. An exterior plate is removeably attached to an outer side of the outer pivot leg.

Abstract: A hinged dorsal carpal tunnel brace comprises a first substantially arcuate splint portion for fastening to a dorsal side of a patient's forearm. The first splint portion includes at least one strap for fastening the first arcuate splint portion to the patient's forearm. A second splint portion attaches to a dorsal side of the patient's hand and includes at least one strap for fastening to the patient's hand. A hinge pivotally connects the first splint portion to the second splint portion and allows pivotal motion through a preselected arcuate distance in radial and ulnar directions.

Abstract: An ankle brace with a single piece hinge, interchangeable stirrup and pivot legs and an adjustable strap position fastener for protecting and exercising an injured ankle or for use with other orthopedic devices is described herein. The ankle brace pivots around a singular pivoting point on both the interior and the exterior portion of the lateral support members of the stirrup portion of the brace. The pivoting hinge of the ankle brace does not require use of metal rivets or bulky hinges and may be easily connected together by the wearer or manufacturer. The separable hinge design of the ankle brace described herein is sufficiently strong to provide substantial lateral support while allowing for forward and backward flexing of the ankle. The design also allows for interchanging the stirrup portion of the brace with different inner and outer pivot legs.

Abstract: The Dorsal Night Splint orthosis for human wearers includes a substantially rigid upright member consisting of an upper portion and a lower portion. When placed upon the foot of the wearer, said upper portion proceeds downward from approximately beneath the knee to the lower portion which terminates at the top of the foot. The lower portion is further defined by two opposed ankle splints. Said opposed ankle splints extend downward on each side of the ankle and wrap around, overlap and terminate at the Plantar aspect of the foot. A flexible member is positioned between the wearer and the upright member to provide padding for extended wearing of the device. The device is fastened to the wearer by one or more Velcro straps. When correctly placed upon the foot, the heel and the attachment of the Achilles tendon, as well as the wearer's toes, remain exposed.

The adjustable strap positioning fastener may be used in combination with an ankle brace having a heel portion, inner and outer pivot legs, and padding which lies between the wearer's leg and the brace, or with any other brace or support utilizing an adjustable band such as a nonpivoting ankle brace.
