Patents Assigned to Adams GmbH & Co. Armaturen KG
  • Patent number: 5934647
Abstract: A metal seal for valves, especially disk valves, for use in pipelines through which fluid media flow. The seal ring has at least one, relatively flexible metal or metal composite seal ring which can be mounted to either the housing or the disk of the valve. The seal ring has a flat attachment section from which a curved, in cross-section generally U-shaped, sealing lip extends which, in the closed position of the valve, engages a metallic seating surface of the latter. The seal ring is attached to the valve without separate mounting elements, such as screws or bolts, by welding a free, radial end of the seal ring to a relatively rigid support ring secured to either the housing or the disk of the valve by shrinking engagement.

  • Patent number: 5692725
Abstract: A butterfly valve has a disc which is pivotally mounted inside the passage through the housing and movable between open and closed positions. In its closed position, a seal is established between the valve housing and the disc with a seal ring that has a flat portion clamped to the housing with an axially movable pressure ring and an inwardly extending, resilient seal ring portion that engages a conical periphery of the disc. A plurality of threaded, circumferentially spaced-apart locking bolts in a segmented retainer ring attached to the valve housing are tightened against the pressure ring to secure the seal ring to the housing. The locking bolts are disposed in through holes in the support ring. Each through hole includes a threaded portion, which is contiguous with the side of the support ring facing the pressure ring, and an unthreaded section which terminates at the outer side of the pressure ring.

  • Patent number: 5377954
Abstract: Disclosed is a disc valve with a laminated seal ring secured to the housing which forms a leakproof seal with a seating surface on the valve disc. The seal ring is made of two or more metal laminates, the outer peripheral edges of which are cold welded together, by WIG welding or laser welding, for example, to prevent any leakage of fluid pass the opposing, abutting surfaces of the laminations. A bolt-tightened pressure ring presses the laminated seal ring in an axial direction against an axially oriented support face of the housing. An axially open groove in support face is covered by the proximate seal ring lamination and is filled with a graphite gasket to prevent leakage behind the seal ring. Alternatively, the laminated seal ring can be mounted on the disc and the cooperating valve seat is formed on the housing.

  • Patent number: 5357997
Abstract: A disc valve with a disc that is pivotable between open and closed positions has a metallic seal ring placed against an axially-oriented face formed by the housing and located at the ends of an enlarged conduit portion between the face and one of the ends of the housing. A three-part retainer ring which includes a main body located opposite the seal ring and a flange which extends radially outward from the main body and snugly fits into a groove in the housing is defined by at least three retainer ring segments. At least one of the retainer ring segments includes parallel ends which are opposite correspondingly parallel ends formed by the adjoining retainer ring segments so that this one segment can be radially moved past the other segments.

  • Patent number: 5275374
Abstract: A shield for the sealing surface of a pivotable disc of a disc valve faces in an upstream direction to protect the sealing surface against wear and tear from a fluid medium streaming through the valve, particularly a hot fluid medium with abrasive particles suspended in it. The protective shield has the same thickness as the disc, is aligned with the disc when the latter is in its open position, and is located just upstream of the disc. Its ends are secured to the valve housing, and the protective shield is preferably shaped so that it generates minimal back pressure in the fluid medium such as by forming the side of the shield facing in the upstream direction as a wedge.
