  • Patent number: 5402974
Abstract: A self-closing holder made of molded, flexible material for supporting at least one object such as a wire on a smooth, nonporous receiving surface. The holder has a concavo-convex suction cup portion having a concave inner surface that engages with the receiving surface, and a convex outer surface. A cylindrical holding portion is integral with and extends outwardly from the convex cup surface. The holding portion is formed of at least one pair of legs, each pair of legs being separated by a slit opening to an exposed end of the holding portion for receiving a thin, lightweight member such as a cord, wire or hook. An annular shoulder is disposed on the cup portion convex surface. The shoulder has an inner diameter that is concentric with and connected to the cylindrical holding portion. When the cup portion is not mounted on a receiving surface, the legs are sufficiently spaced to allow insertion of at least a portion of the object into the slit.

  • Patent number: 5340634
Abstract: In an injection molding process for creating gripping surfaces in plastic articles a mold is provided which positions a cavity within the plastic article near where the gripping surface is needed. The parameters of the injection molding processes can be controlled to either increase or decrease the gripping surfaces by regulating the amount of shrink in the plastic. Three of the controlled parameters that determine the size of the gripping surface are the injection pressure, melt index of the plastic and the temperature of the cooling water.

  • Patent number: 5318262
Abstract: A multiple layer suction holder is disclosed in which a lower attaching layer is made of a soft, flexible material having a neck extending therefrom. A shell is fitted on top of the lower attaching layer where the shell is made from a flexible material which is harder than the soft, flexible material of the lower attaching layer. The suction holder is further provided with connecting devices which force the shell against the lower attaching layer in order to provide an internal pressure in the lower attaching layer directed toward the mounting surface. Hence, air cannot readily pass under the lower attaching layer. The multiple layer suction holder provides maximum contact with the mounting surface and maximum memory that results in longer life of the suction holder.
