  • Publication number: 20040041521
Abstract: A display device is disclosed having a base member adapted to receive at least one light device, conductive layer provided on the base member and configured to electrically interconnect with the light device, and a light guide member integrally formed on one or more of the base member and conductive layer, and having at least one aperture configured to at least partially surround the light device. A method of making a display device is also disclosed and includes the steps of providing a base member having a conductive layer provided in a pattern thereon, forming a light guide member having at least one aperture onto at least one of the base member and the conductive layer, and attaching at least one LED to the conductive layer so that the LED is disposed within the aperture.

  • Patent number: 6675514
Abstract: A display enclosure includes a case, a driver board assembly configured to provide signals to a display, a clamp assembly having a head configured to slidably engage the case and a protrusion configured to secure the driver board assembly to the case. A message center enclosure includes a case, a driver board assembly configured to generate a display, a pivot clamp assembly coupled to the case, and configured to couple the driver board assembly to the case, in a manner that is devoid of apertures through the driver board assembly for coupling the driver board assembly to the case. A method of manufacturing a message center enclosure includes obtaining a case having opposing first and second ends and at least one pivot clamp assembly, sliding a driver board assembly into the case, and sliding the pivot clamp assembly into the case.

  • Patent number: 6476883
Abstract: The present invention relates to an enclosure for electronic displays including a frame, at least one coupling assembly coupled to the frame, wherein one of the coupling assembly and the frame includes a plurality of recesses and the other of the body and the frame includes a plurality of protrusions configured for mating alignment with the recesses, a display module disposed within the frame, a front panel coupled to the frame, and a rear panel coupled to the frame. The present invention further relates to a method of manufacturing the enclosure including providing at least one side wall, providing a corner assembly, wherein the side wall has a plurality of recesses and the corner assembly has a plurality of corresponding protrusions for mating engagement with the plurality of recesses, and sliding the protrusions into the recesses to form a secure fit, whereby secondary operations, such as drilling holes or punching holes, in the side wall are unnecessary to complete the mating engagement.

  • Patent number: 6034970
Abstract: An intelligent messaging system automatically conveys messages generated by a variety of message sources to one or more designated message recipients who receive communications via different types of communication devices, including a large character display. A message server automatically dispatches messages and updates to messages to a communication device interface which converts the message and message updates to a protocol compatible with the types of communication devices used by the designated message recipients. The converted message is further routed to local or remote communication destinations at which the message recipients' communication devices are located. Automatic, real-time updates of messages can thus be achieved.

  • Patent number: 5872926
Abstract: A system and method for transmitting a message generated by a message source to diverse communication devices. The types of communication devices to receive the message and their respective sites are selected in response to message parameters contained in the message file. The message is converted to a format appropriate for communicating with selected communication devices and then automatically transmitted to the selected sites.

  • Patent number: 5451979
Abstract: A display sign includes a matrix of LED lights which are energized from an unregulated power supply during periodic duty cycles. The duty cycles are adjusted by a programmed microprocessor such that the power supply is not overloaded when a large number of LEDs are energized, and such that excessive power is not applied to the LEDs when a small number of LEDs are energized and the power supply voltage increases.

  • Patent number: 5043716
Abstract: An electronic display includes a matrix of LEDs mounted to a circuit board and selectively operated to produce a message or image. A reflector matrix mounts to the circuit board and provides light pipes which extend forward from each LED to direct its light and provide protection. Potting compound is disposed in each light pipe and extends beyond the reflector matrix to provide a convex lens. In one embodiment the potting compound extends into a convex lens cover.
