  • Publication number: 20140133820
Abstract: A telecommunications module includes a main housing portion and a cover, the main housing portion defining a first sidewall, a front wall, a rear wall, a top wall, and a bottom wall, the cover defining a second sidewall when mounted on the main housing portion. An optical component located within the module receives an input signal from a signal input location of the housing and outputs an output signal toward a signal output location on the front wall. The telecommunications module is configured such that the signal input location can be selected to be either on the front wall or the rear wall of the main housing. The cover defines a protrusion extending from the second sidewall toward the main housing portion, the protrusion being selectively breakable to expose a recess on the front wall of the main housing portion that defines a signal input location.

Abstract: Securing a cable to a panel includes assembling a cable clamp arrangement to a cable and mounting the cable clamp arrangement to the panel. Assembling the cable clamp arrangement includes disposing a grommet around an exterior surface of the cable; disposing a yoke around the grommet so that the yoke at least partially surrounds the grommet; and compressing the yoke and grommet between a bracket and a backing plate using a fastener so that the cable is compressed. Mounting the cable clamp arrangement to the panel includes sliding the bracket relative to the panel in a direction parallel to a surface of the panel until the bracket rests on fasteners extending from the panel. Mounting the clamp arrangement can also include tightening the fasteners.

  • Patent number: 8720810
Abstract: A spool system for a telecommunications cable. The spool system winds-up and pays-out the cable without accumulating twist in the cable. The spool system can also pay out a distal end of the cable and mount a proximal end of the cable. Because no twist is accumulated in the cable, the first end and/or the second end of the cable can remain connected while the spool system is winding-up or paying-out. The spool system includes a base, a cable unwrapper, and a hub. The cable unwrapper and the hub rotate in opposite directions from each other. A first cable wrapping area is provided on the base and a second cable wrapping area is provided on the hub.

  • Patent number: 8718434
Abstract: This disclosure describes a fiber optic enclosure in which a cable entry port is sealed using a wedge that compresses a gasket that surrounds a fiber optic cable. As described herein, a fiber optic enclosure may include one or more entry ports through which fiber optic cables pass. As one of the fiber optic cables passes through one of the entry ports, the fiber optic cable passes through a gasket located in a receptacle behind the cable entry port. A wedge compresses the gasket, thereby compressing the gasket. When the gasket is compressed, the gasket exerts radial pressure on the fiber optic cable. In this way, the gasket forms a seal around the fiber optic cable.
