  • Patent number: 8891931
Abstract: A fiber optic enclosure assembly includes a housing having an interior region and a bearing mount disposed in the interior region of the housing. A cable spool is connectedly engaged with the bearing mount such that the cable spool selectively rotates within the housing. A termination module disposed on the cable spool so that the termination module rotates in unison with the cable spool. A method of paying out a fiber optic cable from a fiber optic enclosure includes rotating a cable spool, which has a subscriber cable coiled around a spooling portion of the cable spool, about an axis of a housing of the fiber optic enclosure until a desired length of subscriber cable is paid out. A termination module is disposed on the cable spool.

  • Patent number: 8886004
Abstract: A cable exit trough is mountable to a lateral trough section either during initial assembly of the cable routing system, or at a later date. The exit trough includes a bracket portion mountable to the top edge of one of the sides of the lateral trough section. Two lead-ins are provided to lead the cable in an upward direction from the lateral trough section to the exit trough. The exit trough includes an exit trough portion extending from the bracket portion upwardly away from the lateral trough section. The exit trough portion includes a convexly curved bottom trough surface, and two convexly curved upstanding sides. The exit trough portion and the lead-ins define a cable pathway from the lateral trough section to an exit point of the exit trough portion which can either lead downwardly relative to the lateral trough section or horizontally.

  • Patent number: 8870473
Abstract: A method of terminating a fiber optic cable includes removing a portion of an outer jacket from an end of a fiber optic cable to expose an end portion of an optical fiber so that an end of the optical fiber extends a first axial length from the outer jacket. A portion of the fiber optic cable is coiled about a spool so that the end of the optical fiber extends a second axial length from the outer jacket. The second axial length is greater than the first axial length. A second optical fiber is spliced to the optical fiber of the fiber optic cable. The portion of the fiber optic cable is uncoiled so that the optical fiber retracts into the outer jacket of the fiber optic cable.

  • Patent number: 8870466
Abstract: Fiberoptic connector and adapter assembly includes a fiberoptic connector received within an adapter. The connector has a cover on the connector housing. The cover pivots between open and closed positions to expose or cover, respectively, a optical fiber contained within the connector. Longitudinal guides of the connector are received cooperating with longitudinal guides of the adapter to direct the connector into the adapter in a prescribed alignment. A cam pin is carried on the adapter to engage a cam pin receiving slot on the cover to urge the cover to the open position as the connector is inserted into the adapter.

  • Patent number: 8870469
Abstract: A fiber optic connector includes a shroud, spring, ferrule mount, shrink tube, and ferrule. The connector terminates a fiber optic cable including an optical fiber and a strength member. The ferrule terminates the optical fiber and is mounted to the ferrule mount. The ferrule mount attaches to the strength member and includes an exterior retaining surface and a passage for the optical fiber. The shroud is mounted over the ferrule mount and includes an interior retaining surface. The exterior and the interior retaining surfaces engage to limit distal movement of the shroud relative to the ferrule mount and the attached cable. The spring engages the cable and the shroud and distally urges the shroud relative to the cable. The shrink tube forms a seal between the shroud and the cable and can proximally urge the shroud relative to the ferrule mount. This proximal urging is overcome by the spring.
