Abstract: The present invention relates to a telecommunications termination panel with a tray pivotably mounted within the front opening of a housing. The tray pivots about a hinge located adjacent one of the sides of the housing and includes a raised floor. The raised floor of the tray cooperates with the side adjacent the hinge and a bottom of the housing to define a cable path from a rear cable access port to an opening on the tray adjacent the hinge. The tray includes a plurality of connection locations and cable management structures to direct a telecommunications cable from the cable access port to a rear of the connection locations without violating bend radius rules. The tray may also include a temporary cable holder to assist in pulling cables through the rear opening into the housing. The present invention further relates to a telecommunications equipment rack with a termination panel with such a pivoting tray mounted to the rack.
Abstract: A cable management panel including a chassis and a drawer slidably mounted to the chassis. The panel includes a rear drawer latch assembly that automatically locks the drawer in the open position to prevent inadvertent closing movement of the drawer.
Abstract: A loop back connector and methods for testing lines in a fiber optic network are disclosed. The loop back connector includes a ferrule having an interface side constructed for optical connection to a multifiber optical cable. The loop back connector also includes first and second optical loop back paths, each having first and second terminal ends positioned at the interface side. The terminal ends of each loop back path are adapted to be aligned to fibers in the multifiber optical cable. The method includes injecting a signal on a first optical path at a first location, looping back the signal at a second location onto a second optical path, and receiving the signal on the second optical path at the first location.

Abstract: A telecommunications system including a frame to which telecommunications equipment is mounted. Fiber cables exiting the equipment are routed upward along each of the right and left sides of the frame. The fiber cables routed along the right and left sides merge within a horizontal trough section of a cable exit assembly. The cable exit assembly is located adjacent to the top of the frame and defines a single common exit point at which the merged fiber cables exit the frame.
Abstract: A telecommunications assembly includes a chassis and a plurality of optical wavelength division multiplexer/demultiplexer modules mounted within the chassis. Each module includes at least one fiber optic connector. Within an interior of the chassis are positioned at least one fiber optic adapter. Inserting the modules through an opening of the chassis at a mounting location positions the connector of the module for insertion into and mating with the adapter of the chassis. A method of mounting an optical wavelength division multiplexer/demultiplexer module within a telecommunications chassis is also disclosed.
Abstract: A method for configuring an enclosure used in a communications network is described. The method may include providing a group of pigtails. The method may further include routing the group of pigtails circumferentially around a subscriber termination field, where the group of pigtails is associated with an optical splitter module used to convey optical signals to a destination, and where the routing is performed in a manner that does not substantially obstruct access to at least one of a group of subscriber terminations that are associated with the subscriber termination field.

Abstract: The invention relates to a tool for connecting cable cores, in particular of insulated telecommunication and data cables, to an insulation-piercing contact element, with a ram, which is formed with a ram head, by means of which the cable cores can be pressed into the insulation-piercing contact, the ram head being shaped in such a way that at least two cable cores can be pressed in simultaneously into at least two insulation-piercing contact elements lying next to each other.
Abstract: A WDM optical system includes first and second WDM's including an optical link therebetween. Each WDM includes circuitry for linking multiplexer and demultiplexer circuitry to a plurality of modular elements. The modular elements include a first set of modules for converting between native protocol media signals and common format signals. A second set of modules converts between the common format signals and optical signals at separate wavelengths for communication with the multiplexers and demultiplexers. A dual path transmit and receive optical link is provided between near and far end WDM's.
Abstract: The invention relates to a distribution module for converting between symmetric and non-symmetric data transmission paths. Said distribution module comprises a housing in which a transformer is arranged for adjusting impedance, first contacts for connecting at least one non-symmetric data cable, and second contacts for connecting at least one symmetric data cable. The first and second contacts are disposed on opposite faces of the housing. The second contacts are embodied as at least one RJ45 plug-in connector.
