The tape is comprised of a solid acrylic-based carrier including an acrylic-based adhesive on both sides of the carrier. The carrier preferably includes polymeric microspheres to impart compressibility to the tape. The tape includes a conformable, heat resistant polyolefin-based release liner. In use, the tape is adhered on one side to a first substrate, the liner is removed, and the tape is adhered on the other side to a second substrate. The two substrates with the tape are then exposed to elevated temperatures such as those encountered in an automotive, appliance, or other commercial paint bake process.
