Abstract: A composite flange providing the low cost and bonding capability of molded flanges with the torque capacity near that of metal flanges. Multiple layers of braided fiberglass enveloping a fiberglass ring are placed into a mold of the desired shape. After the mold is closed, liquid resin is injected and the flange is cured to the desired state. After demolding, the flange is machined as necessary for installation onto the drive shaft.

Abstract: To couple a driving shaft of a machine to a driven shaft, a coupling assembly is mounted to the driving and driven shafts and includes a flexible coupling element. The flexible coupling element includes a plurality of first fasteners adapted to be connected to the driving shaft and a plurality of second fasteners adapted to be connected to the driven shaft. A plurality of fibers connects different ones of the first fasteners to different ones of the second fasteners so that the first fasteners applies force to the second fasteners to transmit torque. The filaments or fibers are looped around the fasteners and the coupling element has a thickness in the range of 1 percent to 10 percent of its diameter.

Abstract: A system for allocating service resources to a plurality of individuals who have requested services includes a plurality of communication devices, each one of which is for assignment to a different one of the individuals; assignment logic for assigning each one of the individuals to a corresponding one of the queues, each one of the of queues a different priority associated with it; indication logic for indicating that a service resource is or will become available to serve a next individual; selection logic for selecting the next individual from the queue having the highest priority and having at least one individual assigned to it; and a communicator for communicating with the communication device assigned to the next individual so as to notify the next individual that service is available. The communication devices are handheld wireless pagers. The communicator is a wireless transmitter.
