Abstract: Systems and methods for improved monitoring of content distribution are described herein. In some embodiments, control circuitry may transmit a video stream to a node, and compare a fingerprint of a first video frame transmitted from the node to reference fingerprints in database in order to determine a time offset between a transmission time of content to the node, and a transmission time of the content from the node. The control circuitry may then monitor a transmission from the node by transmitting a request, to the node, to generate a second fingerprint at a predetermined transmission time, the predetermined transmission time being a second transmission time of a second video frame to the node adjusted based on the time offset. In some embodiments, the control circuitry may also generate alerts based on determining that a node failed to properly retransmit content.

Abstract: Systems and methods are presented for detecting users within a range of a media device. A detection region may be defined that is within the range of the media device and smaller than the range. The detection region may be stored. It may be determined whether a user is within the detection region. The media device may be activated and settings associated with the user may be applied when a user is within the detection region. In some embodiments, settings associated with a user may be compared to provided media content when the user is within the detection region. The content may change when the settings conflict with the media content. Reminders may be provided to or directed to a plurality of users within the range of the media device.

Abstract: Systems and associated methods are described for providing content recommendations. The system selects a first plurality of subsets of content categories, each subset of content categories comprising a first number of content categories. The subsets are assigned reward scores based on content popularity and duplication. The subset are then iteratively modified to increase the rewards scores. If the reward scores are still low, the process is repeated by selecting a second plurality of subsets of content categories, each subset of content categories comprising a second number of content categories, different from first number.

Abstract: Systems and methods are described herein for efficiently “catching-up” a user that is interested in a media asset when that user has missed a portion of the media asset while consuming the media asset together with other people. The system may detect that multiple people are consuming a media asset and may determine, based on a respective profile of each person, whether that person is interested in the media asset. When the system detects that the user is disregarding the media asset, the missed portion of the media asset is stored if the user is interested in the media asset, and is not stored if the user is not interested in the media asset.

Abstract: Systems and methods for simultaneously being present in multiple extended reality (XR) apps running on the same XR device are disclosed. The methods concurrently run multiple XR apps on the user's XR device and use an avatar to represent the user's presence in each app. The methods determine whether the user is actively present in a first app or a second app. When the user is not actively present in a first app, activity in the first app is monitored, the avatar is configured to provide auto-responses based on AI, ML, or preprogrammed responses for relevant queries to simulate the user's presence. Notifications and summary of the activities in the first app are provided to the user while they are actively present in the second app. Instead of rendering the first app, back-end simulations of the activities in the first app are processed and made available when rendering is resumed.

Abstract: Methods and systems are disclosed herein for a media guidance application that distributes media guidance application operations between multiple devices based on one or more criteria associated with those devices. For example, the media guidance application may determine the plurality of operations performed by a target device and distribute the plurality of operations among devices near that target device.

Abstract: A vocabulary level of a user in a language to be learned is identified. During playback of a media asset on a first device, subtitles in the language are extracted for at least a portion of the media asset. The extracted subtitles may contain a single word, or a plurality of words in the language in question. Based on the vocabulary level, a subset of words from the extracted subtitles are predicted to be new to the user. The predicted new words are then generated for display on a second device associated with the user, along with an explanation of each word of the subset of words.

Abstract: The system and methods described herein provide content recommendations to user equipment timed to reduce interruption of content. A content recommendation application detects output of first content and determines viewing metrics for the first content. Using the determined viewing metrics, the content recommendation application determines whether output of a content recommendation should be blocked. In response to determining that the viewing metrics indicate output of the content recommendation should be blocked, the content recommendation application blocks the content recommendation. Upon receiving an input changing output of the first content to output of a second content, the content recommendation application unblocks and outputs the content recommendation.

Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for displaying supplemental content for print media using augmented reality. A user profile for a user of an augmented reality device is determined. Content of the print media is searched to identify a first portion of the print media that matches the user profile and a second portion of the print media that does not match the user profile. Supplemental content is obtained based on content of the first portion of the print media. A display of the supplemental content is positioned over the second portion of the print media.

Abstract: Systems and methods are described herein for subjectively modifying social media posts. The system receiving a version of a social media post from a sender, along with a list of target users, and generates one or more modified versions of the social media post based on the preferences of the target user. The system retrieves a plurality of the versions of the post and selects a version based on quality and other attributes. The selected version of the post is modified based on the target user's preferences. The system modifies, for example, text, images, or video of the post to generate one or more modified versions of the social media post. In other embodiments, the system may determine the number of modifications made to a post being shared, and compare the number of modifications against a modifying threshold.

A summary of at least one segment from the plurality of alternative segments is generated, and the summary is generated for output. The common segment of the interactive media program is generated for output.

Abstract: The system and methods described herein provided storyline summaries of missed content to users timed to reduce interruptions of content. A summary application detects missed content, that comprises a plurality of storylines. The summary application also identifies a storyline of current content being generated for presentation and retrieves a storyline-specific summary of a portion of the missed content comprising the current storyline. The summary application then generates, for presentation, the retrieved storyline-specific summary.

Abstract: Systems and methods for generating for display an interactive interface based on user history are provided. A first media asset and second media asset share a common attribute but are displayed with different display properties because the first media asset is included in the viewing history of the user while the second media asset is not. This display property may include moving the first media asset to a different portion of the guide.

Abstract: Systems and methods are described herein for transmitting a content item to a user device using multiple delivery protocols. The system receives, at a content source, a request for the content item from the user device. The system splits a digital stream of the content item into a first video signal and a second video signal. The system then transmits, via a unicast server, the first video signal for the content item to the user device, and transmits, via a multicast server, the second video signal for the content item to the user device. The system then causes for presentation on the user device the first video signal followed by the second video signal. In other embodiments, the system is optimized between the unicast delivery of a content item and a peer-to-peer delivery.

Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed herein for determining a preference of a user for or against a participant of an event when a media asset relating to the event is being played based on monitoring user reactions to the event. Specifically, the media guidance application may detect a change of at least one of the biometric state (e.g., pulse rate, blood pressure, etc.) and physiological state (e.g., facial expression, gesture, body movement, etc.) with a user. The media guidance application may determine that an event has occurred within the sporting event that triggered the change. The media guidance application may determine that the user favors the first participant over the second participant, if the user reacts positively towards a score for the first participant in the event.

Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed herein for identifying a media asset in response to an ambiguous input. The media guidance application may detect a portion of music provided by a user, e.g., a melody from user humming. The media guidance application may retrieve information about the user's location for a predetermined time period prior to detecting the portion of music. The media guidance application may then determine content accessible by the user at the location, e.g., a commercial played at a display screen at a train station when the user was waiting for the train, to identify the media asset corresponding to the user humming.

Abstract: Methods and systems are provided for improving provider and consumer control of content items, channels, accounts, subscriptions, and related information including metadata. The information regarding the content items, channels, accounts, subscriptions, and related information including metadata is structured into formats suitable for determining past, present, and future user interest in content, likelihood to consume the content, and relatedness of content items. The determinations are used to generate recommendations. Content providers are provided with options to customize conditions of the determinations, the recommendations, and offers based on the same to be provided to consumers. Users are provided with the recommendations and are presented with options to change channel line-ups and subscriptions, including automatic changes based on selected parameters. Abstract: The system and methods described aid content delivery by providing requested content using a hybrid delivery of unicast and multicast content. A content delivery system receives, from user equipment, a request for content and identifies multicast sources for the content. The content delivery system determines a recent multicast source from the multicast sources, the recent multicast source having begun more recently relative to the other sources. The content delivery system transmits, to the user equipment, an identity of the recent multicast source and provides a beginning portion of the content to the user equipment via a unicast stream.
