Abstract: A method and apparatus for analysing a chemical species in a fluid are disclosed. The apparatus includes filtering apparatus (15, 17) upstream and downstream of the sample preparation section (3). The fluid is diverted from a line (1) by an arrangement of pumps (27) and valves through the upstream filter (15) to the digester (11) and through the downstream filter (17) out to the analyser/detector system (5). The pumps (27) and valve arrangement allows the purging of the sample preparation section (3) and backflushing of the filters (15, 17), the inlet line (7) and the outlet line (13).

Abstract: A frangible projectile (1) is provided which has a conical nose (5) with an included angle in the range 40-41 degrees. The conical nose (5) has a forward end (9) which is blunt. The projectile is made from a mixture of a metal powder and a thermoplastic resin of nylon 11. The metal is about 80% by weight and the projectile has a specific gravity in the range 2.35 to 5.7.The projectile exhibits desired ballistic characteristics for distances up to about 150 m and can disintegrate on impact with solid objects. In addition a projectile made according to the preferred embodiment and fitted in a 5.56 mm.times.45 mm military cartridge case (equivalent to a 0.223 inch Remmington case) charged with a propellant such as type AR2207 (by ADI Ltd.) in the range of 25-26 grains, exhibits particularly suitable characteristics for use in firing ranges.
Abstract: There is disclosed a fermentation device having a peripherally extending wall, a gas-impermeable cover extending over the surface of the device, and attached at its peripheral edge to a top part of the wall, and a gas collection conduit extending for at least part of the periphery of the device within the wall. This device may be used for wastewater treatment enclosures.

Abstract: A fermentation pond has a cover and gas-collection system that includes a gas-impermeable membrane resistant to the elements and resistant to chemical deterioration by both the contents of the pond and any biogas generated by fermentation in the pond. The membrane overlies the full surface of the pond. A biogas collection conduit is positioned at the surface of the pond and under the membrane, and weights are located so as to urge the membrane downwardly along lines separated from each other so as to define between the lines a plurality of channels along which biogas can pass to the collection conduit.
