Patents Assigned to Adjustable Clamp Company
  • Patent number: 9370826
Abstract: A rotary chuck includes a housing for rotation about an axis, keyways in the housing which extend radially away from the axis, jaw assemblies slidably received in the keyways and an actuating mechanism as well as a speed ring for moving the jaw assemblies along the keyways in accordance with different gear ratios. Each jaw assembly includes an inner jaw keyed to the associated keyway adjacent to the bottom thereof and an outer jaw keyed to the associated keyway near a mouth thereof so that the jaws can slide independently along their respective keyways. Each jaw assembly also has a locking device for locking its jaws together when they are opposite one another to prevent their relative radial movement and means enabling release of the locking device from the outside to permit ready removal of the outer jaw from its keyway.

  • Patent number: 8657272
Abstract: A case clamp is used to properly align two or more cabinet sides and/or gable ends, such as those of European-style cabinet units. The clamp comprises a frame with an upper jaw, a lower jaw, and an alignment wall connected to the upper and lower jaws. The clamp further includes an upper engagement member associated with the upper jaw for movement in a first direction and a side engagement member associated with the lower jaw for movement in a second direction generally perpendicular to the first direction. Corners of the workpieces are placed adjacent to each other and the clamp is applied to the corners. The engagement members are advanced to press the corners into alignment with each other. A surface of the clamp frame also provides an alignment function, resulting in three-dimensional alignment of the workpieces.

  • Patent number: 7322571
Abstract: A clamp is adapted to be secured to a second substantially identical clamp in order to accommodate a larger workpiece than can be held by a single clamp. The clamp includes a first jaw that is secured to an intermediate member, such as a bar or pipe, and a second jaw that is removeably securable to the intermediate member so as to selectively oppose the first jaw. The second jaw includes a surface thereon that is configured to interlock with a complimentarily-shaped surface on a second jaw of the second clamp.

  • Patent number: 7146888
Abstract: An adjustable pliers having first and second elongated members, each elongated member comprising a handle, a jaw, and a intermediate portion between the jaw and the handle. The intermediate portion of one of the elongated members includes an elongated slot, while the intermediate portion of the other elongated member includes a pivot pin that is slidingly captured in the elongated slot. A spring is captured in the elongated slot and engages the pivot pin so as to bias the jaw of one of the elongated members toward the jaw of the other elongated member. One of the handle members also includes a stop pin in its intermediate portion that abuts the intermediate portion of the other elongated member to limit the degree to which the elongated members can pivot with respect to each other about the pivot pin.

  • Patent number: 6408724
Abstract: An adjustable locking pliers-type tool has a first handle provided with a fixed jaw, a movable jaw pivotally connected to the first handle, a second handle pivotally connected to the movable jaw, and a toggle linkage system cooperatively connected between the two handles. The linkage system includes a toggle link connected to one of a pair of wedges disposed in the first handle and coacts through a shoulder thereon with the second wedge. The two wedges are magnetically attracted into close contact with a floater plate separating the wedges with a force sufficient to prevent formation of oil films between their mating surfaces.

  • Patent number: 6220589
Abstract: A two-way dual action clamp for accurately clamping together two or more workpieces. The clamps are particularly useful in temporarily clamping together two European style wall cabinets prior to permanently joining the units together with a plurality of screws. Each clamp has two jaws, one L-shaped and one I-shaped which, when assembled form a U-shape. The jaws are manipulated by a hand operating screw so as to clamp together workpieces such as abutting sides of frameless cabinet units. A second hand operating screw carries a pressure plate and extends transversely through a threaded opening in the bight portion of the U-assembly. The pressure plate acts to bring edges of the cabinet units into flush relationship. The distal ends of the jaws are provided with spring actuated workpiece engaging and retaining cams which are spread apart to a limited extent when workpieces are inserted between them.

  • Patent number: 6012361
Abstract: A locking pliers wrench adjustable to grip between two jaws and lock onto objects in a range of sizes. An elongated handle forms the body of the wrench. The rear portion of the handle is channel-shaped in cross section and houses a gripping size adjusting screw and a jaw actuating slider actuated thereby. One jaw is rigidly mounted on the fore end of the handle while the second jaw is pivotally mounted on the handle at a first point adjacent the rear end of the first jaw. A second handle extends generally parallel to the body forming first handle and is pivotally connected to the second jaw at a second pivot point spaced from the first pivot point. A link connects the second handle with the fore end of the jaw actuating slider. The adjusting screw is free to rotate but is restrained from axial movement. A nut is locked in the rear end of the slider so as to receive the threaded shank of the screw. The rear portion of the screw rotatably engages the rear end of the body forming handle.

  • Patent number: 4161311
Abstract: An improved kerf clamp for maintaining two sheet members in pre-disposed relation on either side of a kerf. The clamp is fabricated from sheet metal stock in such a way as to maximize strength and minimize material and production costs. The clamp includes a generally planar sheet metal base which is ribbed for added rigidity and includes an integral kerf blade which extends perpendicularly therefrom and has a stud screw extending axially from the distal end thereof. In use, the base is positioned underneath the sheet material to be clamped with the blade extending upwardly through a kerf cut therein. The clamp also includes a pressure part formed from sheet metal which is bent and shaped into a hollow tubular structure having a narrow upper gripping portion. A pair of sheet metal bulkhead-like inserts are mounted within the pressure part to impart rigidity and strength in compression.

  • Patent number: 4076228
Abstract: A clamp for securing in proper relationship portions of a piece or sheet of material on opposite sides of a kerf or other separation. The clamp has a base block or part and a pressure block or part the two of which engage a sheet or pieces of material from opposite sides of a kerf therein or line of separation therebetween. The base block carries a blade which projects through the kerf or line of separation into a receiving slot or opening in the pressure block. By tightening fastening means such as a nut threaded on a screw projecting from the kerf blade, the base and pressure blocks may be drawn together in clamping relationship on opposite sides of a kerf or line of separation thereby holding in normal or coplanar relationship the juxtaposed sections separated from each other by the presence of a kerf or other form of separation.
