Abstract: A system for monitoring a location may include a local agent device at the location, and at least one sub-system at the location. The sub-system(s) is in communication with the local agent device. The local agent device is configured to detect and automatically respond to a first event occurring at or within the sub-system(s) according to a first procedure. The local agent device is configured to contact a monitoring center that is remotely located from the location when the local agent device detects a second event occurring at or within the sub-system(s) according to a second procedure.

Abstract: A detector, system including a detector and method for sensing motion within a detection region. The detector has a detection element and a focusing element aiming received energy corresponding to a presence within the detection region toward the detection element. The focusing element has a plurality of sections in which each of the plurality of sections establishes a corresponding detection zone within the detection region. The plurality of sections are arranged to allow a motion vector to be determined for an object passing through the detection region. The system includes a detector that generates pulses each time presence in a detector zone is detected as well as a central alarm panel. The central alarm panel receives the pulses and has processor that evaluates the timing between electrical pulses to determine the motion vector.

Abstract: A method for providing communications between a system control panel at a premises and a central monitoring center comprises transmitting an event code from the control panel to the monitoring center utilizing a first communications format and a network protocol, and causing the control panel to enter a call-back mode. The control panel is enabled to receive in-bound calls utilizing a second communications format. A two-way voice session is established utilizing the second communications format between the monitoring center and the control panel. The two-way voice session is initiated by the monitoring center.

Abstract: An ingress/egress control system (10) controls passenger (P) flow into and out of an airport concourse. Enplaning passengers pass through an entrance portal (18) on their way to an airplane gate. A security screen (22) screens each person passing through the portal for the presence of prohibited items and identifies any person suspected of carrying such an item. A secondary portal (50) is located downstream of the first portal. A visual display system (52) responds to an indication from the security screening to route a suspected person from the first portal to the secondary portal, for further screening to determine if the person is carrying a prohibited item, while providing a different display to passengers passing the security screen so they can enter the concourse. A separate, exit portal (64) is provided for deplaning passengers exiting the concourse.
