    Abstract: An electrical connector assembly includes a plug having a first mating portion defined by a multi-sided first confining wall, and a receptacle having a second mating portion defined by a multi-sided second confining wall. Each of the first and second confining walls has opposite first and second sides, a pair of opposite third sides respectively connected to two opposite ends of the first side, a pair of fourth sides respectively connected to two opposite ends of the second sides, and a pair of fifth sides each extending between and interconnecting one of the third sides and one of the fourth sides. The first side is longer than the second side. The width between the third sides is greater than that between the fourth sides. The fifth sides are angled away from each other while extending from the fourth sides to the third sides.

Each retaining extension includes a lower part formed with a retaining slot, a top retaining wall defining a top end of the retaining slot, and a bottom opening. A pair of board locking members have inserting portions disposed in the retaining slots, and locking pegs projecting downwardly from the inserting portions through the bottom openings. The inserting portions abut against the top retaining walls when the locking pegs are pushed upwardly by an external force.

Each of the terminal pins has front and rear ends that project respectively from front and rear side surfaces of the terminal seat. The positioning seat is located behind the terminal seat, and is made of an insulating material. A plurality of accommodating holes are formed through the positioning seat. The clamping elements are made of a conductive material, and are confined respectively within the accommodating holes in the positioning seat.

In addition, a second metal shield encloses a partition plate between the upper and lower terminal holding plates of the terminal holding frame. The second metal shield is formed with a pair of resilient grounding strips disposed forwardly of the partition plate.
