Abstract: A double wrap brake band for controlling the clutch drum of an automatic transmission for a vehicle. The band is formed from an integrally stamped strap the ends of which are joined to form the circular band. The strap includes longitudinal slots forming three parallel straps which control the constriction and expansion of the band. A first bracket secured to the outer straps and a second bracket secured to the intermediate strap facilitate control of the constriction/expansion movement. The brackets are secured to the straps such that breakage and malfunction are reduced.
