Abstract: The invention relates to a device for transanally introducing an infusion into the rectum or colon of a patient, said device comprising a catheter with a catheter shaft wherein, to ensure the most practicable catheter insertion possible, the catheter shaft is equipped in the proximal, preanal region with gripping depressions to accommodate the fingers gripping the catheter during insertion.
Abstract: A device for emptying stool from the rectum of a patient by means of a shaft body which is introduced into the bowel via the anus and is able to buckle or fold axially and radially, and which is provided with a dumbbell- or hourglass-shaped balloon body for assuring the transanal positioning of the device. The invention is further characterized by the special design of and choice of material for the shaft body and the balloon envelope and by the specific positioning of the balloon body on the shaft body, wherein the axial deflection of the free forward end of the shaft body is limited or an uncontrolled deflection of the shaft is prevented, and the probability of perforation of the bowel wall under the effect of force acting on the shaft body from an axial direction is therefore decisively reduced by the intestinal tube described according to the invention.

Abstract: A device for sealing a colon, and for removing stool therefrom by irrigation, comprising an expandable intrarectal balloon segment formed from an everted tube with two ends, for insertion into the rectum to anchor the device, and a tapered transanal segment adapted to remain at least partially outside the rectum during use, wherein the balloon segment and the transanal segment have no common compartment, wherein both segments comprise drainage parts with a drainage lumen for irrigation of stool from the patient, wherein one of the two ends of the everted tube is passed through the lumen of the intrarectal balloon segment as an inner layer, the inner layer being in contact with a funnel element, and wherein the transanal segment is adapted to collapse upon resting of the sphincter, and comprises part of the intrarectal balloon segment, or a different balloon element.
Abstract: The invention relates to a device for sealing and draining an intestinal outlet, the device comprising an inflatable balloon of a generally toroidal structure, whose two ends extend one inside the other, creating a sealed-off volume inside the balloon, whereby the filling of the volume can be adjusted from outside and a draining lumen radially inside the inner layer of the balloon, the outer layer of the tube comprising a radially expanded intra-rectal device which is placed inside the rectum or the intestine of a patient during use, and comprising a trans-anal device which extends through the anus of the patient or his abdominal wall, and a stiffening sleeve element positioned inside the draining lumen of the device, keeping the lumen open and facilitating the uptake and passage of feces through the intra-rectal segment of the draining lumen.
Abstract: The invention is directed to a device for sealing a natural or artificial opening of the large intestine, or the rectum, of a patient, and for occluding same, and/or for removing stool therefrom, particularly for continuous, and/or intermittent irrigation, preferably into an external, bag-like collection container, comprising an inflatable balloon with an approximately annular structure formed from a flat, everted tube section, wherein the outer layer of the everted tube section is provided with a radially enlarged region for insertion into the rectum, and has a region that is tapered relative thereto, and that remains at least regionally outside the rectum during use, the intrarectal balloon section having no functional or spatial connection to the transanal balloon section.
