Abstract: A multi-functional flow control device optimized for maintaining a substantially specific flow rate of fluid with the requirements to properly connect, commission, set-to-work, maintain, repair, and/or replace hydronic apparatus and equipment. The device includes two valve housings hydraulically communicating with each other, one is fixed to the supply line and the other is connected to the return line connection point of the hydronic apparatus. Each of the two valve housings have a primary inlet port and a primary outlet port, a secondary inlet port and a secondary outlet port, multiple cylinders with strategically positioned peripheral openings in the form of perforations. A first valve housing includes a first hollow cylinder, a mesh strainer, a drain valve, a cover plate, a handle and stem mechanism with a stem dial. A second valve housing includes a second hollow cylinder, a nested cylinder, a venturi tube, a cover plate and a motor.

Abstract: A highly efficient condensate-free cooling unit functionally based on vapor-compression refrigeration cycle has been described. The condensate collected from the evaporator of the cooling unit is routed through a sub-cooling heat exchanger where it exchanges heat with the primary heat exchange medium emerging through the condenser of the cooling unit, thus, sub-cooling the primary heat exchange medium to a lower temperature before it enters the expansion valve. Emerging from the sub-cooling heat exchanger, the condensate flows through a condensate outlet pipe into multiple spray nozzles disposed over the condensate outlet pipe. The spray nozzles sprinkle the condensate over the hot air blown into the condenser to reduce its temperature. The cooling unit has a substantially higher coefficient of performance compared to the conventional cooling units utilizing vapor-compression refrigeration cycle, and eliminates the problems of condensate removal persistent in the art.

  • Publication number: 20120204497
Abstract: A shielding system that mitigates the effects of wind on an open-air venue by at least partially deflecting wind flow over the field. The shielding system includes shielding modules in abutment around the periphery of the field, each module including an upright member and a horizontal member. The upright member is curvilinear and projects inward toward the field, while the horizontal member is generally planar, mounted at the lower end of the upright member, and it also projects inward. The upright member and the horizontal member define a closed trap zone. An impinging airstream encounters the convex upwind side of the shielding system and is lifted over the field. At the downwind side of the shielding system, the airflow pressure against the closed trap zones produces a region of high pressure, deflecting the airflow over the downwind side of the shielding system.

  • Publication number: 20120192589
Abstract: A three-media evaporator for a cooling unit utilizing the vapor compression refrigeration cycle. The apparatus includes a number of heat exchange tubes, each tube including an inner heat exchange tube adapted to carry a primary heat exchange medium and an outer heat exchange tube, adapted to carry an intermediate heat exchange medium. The intermediate heat exchange medium is in thermal communication with the primary heat exchange medium. A direct heat exchange mechanism, which in one aspect can be a set of fins, is in simultaneous thermal communication with the ambient medium and with the intermediate heat exchange medium. In each heat exchange tube the outer tube at least partially surround the inner tube, defining an annular space between the tubes. The intermediate medium is carried in the annular space.
