Patent number: 10330858Abstract: A multilayered illuminated laminate system including a light source positioned proximate to an edge of a light panel that includes a series of reflective paint in the shape of diamonds of increasing size is provided. The system further includes a diffuser sheet of sufficient opacity that it obscures the diamond pattern on the bottom surface of the light panel and a reinforced panel formed from fiberglass that bestows the system with scratch, abrasion, impact, and chemical resistance to meet or exceed current regulatory requirements. The light source is positioned within a clamp mount that contains the light panel, diffuser, and reinforced panel in frictional engagement without the need for an adhesive. A graphic can be positioned between the diffuser sheet and the reinforced panel to increase the aesthetic appearance of the system exterior surface, as well as moderate the intensity of the light it emits.Type: GrantFiled: June 1, 2016Date of Patent: June 25, 2019Assignee: Advanced Technology, Inc.Inventor: James G. Burgio, Jr.

Patent number: 6919954Abstract: The invention relates to a method and system for measuring the internal refractive index of an optical fiber preform with high precision. The internal refractive index of an optical fiber preform (2) is measured from the state of bending of a light ray (4) passing across the optical fiber preform (2), so that the refractive index distribution of the optical fiber preform (2) is found on the basis of the angle of bending of the light ray calculated from a specific relation between a light ray start position (8) and a light ray detection position (9). The surface of a light source (1) is scanned by a knife-edge (6) and the light ray start position (8) on the light source is determined depending on the interception of the light ray (4) by the knife-edge (6) or the de-interception of the light ray, thereby learning the start position (8) of the detected light ray (4) on the light source (1).Type: GrantFiled: June 12, 2001Date of Patent: July 19, 2005Assignees: Advanced Technology, Inc.Inventors: Issei Sasaki, Fujio Kato

Patent number: 4535029Abstract: Improved coating and method of forming a nondewettable coating in a reactive carbon monoxide atmosphere wherein a small portion of palladium, platinum or mixture thereof is added to the coating mixture before the mixture is applied to the substrate. Alternatively, in the case of electrolytic deposition, a thin layer of palladium, platinum or mixture thereof is, e.g. electrolessly or by sputtering or silkscreening, deposited on a substrate before a tin or tin alloy coating is deposited, such as by sputtering, silkscreening, etc. The reaction temperature required to form a nondewettable bond is reduced or increased depending on the tin alloy content, but it appears that if platinum or palladium is participating in the reaction for the same alloy, the temperature for achieving the bond appears to be reduced.Type: GrantFiled: September 15, 1983Date of Patent: August 13, 1985Assignee: Advanced Technology, Inc.Inventors: Josef Intrater, Gene Bertoldo

Patent number: 4376806Abstract: Highly adhesive composites with an active tin alloy are obtained as coating on beryllia by depositing tin with, e.g. vanadium on beryllia, and heating in a carbon monoxide atmosphere of up to 1000.degree. C.Type: GrantFiled: October 27, 1981Date of Patent: March 15, 1983Assignee: Advanced Technology, Inc.Inventors: Josef Intrater, Gene Bertoldo
