  • Patent number: 8410468
Abstract: A memory cell structure, including a substrate having a via therein bound at first and second ends thereof by electrodes. The via is coated on side surfaces thereof with GST material defining a core that is hollow or at least partially filled with material, e.g., germanium or dielectric material. One or more of such memory cell structures may be integrated in a phase change memory device. The memory cell structure can be fabricated in a substrate containing a via closed at one end thereof with a bottom electrode, by conformally coating GST material on sidewall surface of the via and surface of the bottom electrode enclosing the via, to form an open core volume bounded by the GST material, optionally at least partially filling the open core volume with germanium or dielectric material, annealing the GST material film, and forming a top electrode at an upper portion of the via.

  • Patent number: 8408490
Abstract: An oblique wing aircraft (1) designed for reduced surface area to volume ratio. The aircraft has an oblique wing comprising a forward swept wing segment (27) on one side of the wing and an aft swept wing segment (29) on the opposite side of the wing. A center oblique airfoil section (25) connects the forward and aft swept wing segments. The center oblique airfoil section has a larger chord near its centerline than the chords of either of the forward or aft swept wing segments. The chord of the center oblique airfoil section tapers down more rapidly than the forward or aft wing segments as the center oblique airfoil section extends outboard toward the forward and aft swept wings. The center oblique airfoil section is not shaped solely to function as a circular fairing to fill the gap between an oblique wing and a fuselage at different oblique wing angles, nor is it a second wing in an X wing configuration. Preferably, the aircraft is an all-wing aircraft.

  • Publication number: 20130076064
Abstract: An aerodynamic structure attached to the sides and top of a truck cargo body (either a stand-alone trailer or a “straight truck” with the cab and cargo area as a fixed vehicle) at the aftmost region, which rear typically contains a rolling door assembly, which rolls upwardly. An aerodynamic structure is permanently attached to the sides and top of the trailer in a manner that extend past the aftmost plane of the truck cargo body and retract to the aftmost plane of the truck cargo body when subjected to a force, allowing this device to be backed into structures. The retracted orientation allows for the rear of the trailer to be fully accessible for loading and unloading, and does not reduce the size of the opening of the trailer. The various embodiments of the invention allow for automated deployment once the force used to compress the structure is removed.
