  • Patent number: 5129698
Abstract: A tarp cover system includes a pawl (44) and ratchet (26) mechanism for locking a tarp cover (6) in a rolled-up truck-body-uncovered condition, and a lever arrangement (32,38) that is initially squeezed with one hand by the operator to release the pawl from the rachet to unlock the rolled up cover, and is subsequently pivoted by the same hand to brake (28,34) the unwinding of the cover as it is spring-biased toward the truck-body-covered condition. To re-cover the truck body, a crank shaft (24) is rotated to rotate the roll in the cover-winding direction against the biasing force of the spring, the ratchet mechanism preventing uncontrolled unwinding of the cover.

  • Patent number: 4902064
Abstract: A tarp cover system for flat bed vehicles includes inverted U-shaped bow members that extend transversely of the vehicle, the lower ends of the leg portions of the bow members being connected with carrier devices by means of which the bow members are displaced longitudinally of the vehicle. The bow members carry a tarp cover member that covers and uncovers the vehicle bed when the bow members are displaced longitudinally between expanded and contracted conditions relative to the vehicle. Bump rails are provided that protrude at each side of the flat bed beyond the guide tracks in which the bow carrier devices are displaced, thereby to protect the guide tracks and carriers against damage, and also to permit connection of the load to the flat bed regardless of whether the cover is in the expanded load-covering condition, or the contracted load-exposing condition.

  • Patent number: 3986670
Abstract: A hand held thermal electric fogging device is disclosed comprising a housing having a barrel-like connector provided thereon which is adapted to receive the valve means of an aerosol container containing the insecticide/oil solution. A plunger is movably mounted on the connector and is movable from a normal inoperative position to an operative position to open the valve means on the aerosol container so that the contents of the container are supplied to the discharge outlet of the connector. A tubular heat shield or manifold is connected to the housing and extends therefrom and has a coiled conduit positioned therein. The inlet end of the coiled conduit is connected to the outlet end of the connector so that the insecticide/oil solution is supplied to the interior of the conduit. A spray nozzle is provided on the discharge end of the conduit. An electrical heating means is positioned in the central area of the coil for heating the solution in the coiled conduit.
