  • Patent number: 4765314
Abstract: A device for introducing an endoscope or a surgical tool into body cavities with a feed for a flushing medium and an extractor for said flushing medium, which permits as versatile as possible an application of the endoscope or tool and maintains a higher pressure in the interior of the body as compared with the environment. The device includes a sluice, insertable into the body cavity from outside. The sluice has a cylindrical stem along whose inner wall extend two separate longitudinal grooves which have openings at their ends which pass through the wall of the stem. The openings outside the body are connected to the feed and the extractor for the flushing medium. A cylindrical endoscope or tool is inserted into the device with its outer wall tightly contacting the inner wall of the stem. The outer wall of the endoscope or tool, together with the longitudinal grooves of the stem, form sealed channels for the flushing medium.

  • Patent number: 4503848
Abstract: To make possible the effective immobilization of pieces of bone with an osteosynthesis plate, the proposal is made that the longitudinal edges of the osteosynthesis plate diverge in the manner of a trapezoid, that the osteosynthesis plate be provided with two adjacent rows of slots for its screws, and that the orientations of the longitudinal axes of the slots in both rows diverge in the same directions as the diverging longitudinal edges of the osteosynthesis plate itself.

  • Patent number: 4462404
Abstract: Forceps have two branches movable opposite one another against a spring force and with a lock that fixes the distance between the branches. The lock engages as the two branches approach one another and is released by closing the branches further. This locking mechanism includes a locking arm mounted between the branches with a free end that rides between a sliding surface located on the inside wall of one of the branches and a guide member. The free end carries a locking element that engages a locking step formed on the sliding surface. The guide urges the locking element against the locking step and then, with a further closing movement of the branches, directs the locking arm free end to its initial, fully opened position. The guide has an enlarged opening that allows the free end to fall back onto the sliding surface.

  • Patent number: 4331257
Abstract: A closure for a container used in hospitals to store and transport items. The closure includes a cable tie with a locking eyelet at one end. The other end of the cable tie passes through an opening in the closure and then locks into the eyelet. The locking eyelet has a retaining element that prevents the removal of the cable end. The cable, when thus secured, prevents an unintentional opening of the closure and therefore an unintentional movement of a lid of the container to an open position. Preferably the closure is a falling latch and the cable passes through an opening in the falling latch. It is also secured around or to other elements to prevent the falling latch from moving to a position where the lid can open.

  • Patent number: 4331150
Abstract: An approximator having at least one pair of parallel guide bars which are connected to each other rigidly on one of their adjacent ends, and having at least one clamp of which one is arranged longitudinally displaceable on the guide bars of a pair and is fixable on these in any desired displaced position. At least one additional bar pair each with respectively one displaceable and fixable clamp. The additional bar pair is pivotally connected with the at least one first mentioned bar pair and with respect to this bar pair is fixable in selective relative positions.

  • Patent number: 4319577
Abstract: A skull trepanation drill having a drive shaft, a main cutter engageable with the drive shaft under axial force and a sleeve-shaped housing slidable axially and rotatably on the drive shaft and provided at its free end with an auxiliary cutter. In use, the sleeve-shaped housing is restrained from axial movement on the drive shaft by a locking body extending into recesses in the housing and drive shaft. The housing is manually releasable from the drive shaft for cleaning by rotation of a cam on the latter. The cam moves a lock bolt axially of the drive shaft to a position permitting the locking body to retract from the recess in the housing.

  • Patent number: 4316470
Abstract: An approximator for anastomotic surgery having two parallel guide bars connected rigidly at one end to a fixed clamp holder. Another clamp holder is displaceably guided on the guide bars. One of the guide bars is a meshing bar non-rotatably mounted to the fixed clamp holder. A driver is mounted on the displaceable clamp holder rotatably about an axis crossing the longitudinal axis of the meshing bar and is formed with a toothed gear engaging the driving bar, the latter and the toothed gear forming a rack and pinion gearing.

  • Patent number: 4271837
Abstract: The present invention relates to an electrosurgical cutting device for the cutting and/or coagulation of tissue with RF current. A cutting electrode and a patient plate are connectable to the terminals of a RF generator. A control system, using a condition change arising at the cutting area during cutting as a controlled value, serves to control the RF current produced by the RF generator as a manipulated variable. The invention is characterized in that, for control of the RF-voltage of the RF generator, the control system responds to d-c voltage that arises at the cutting area during cutting with the RF current.

  • Patent number: 4240432
Abstract: A mucotome or mucous membrane cutter for mucogingival membrane surgery is disclosed. The mucotome comprises a handle having a small, compactly designed cutting head arranged on its forward end, the cutting head including a circular cylindrical blade-holding roller which is reciprocable parallel to the blade edge in a guide by means of a drive shaft having an eccentric crank pin engaging in cross grooves of the blade-holding roller. A cutting shoe is mounted to the ends of the blade-holding roller and is rotatable relative to the cutting head through a limited angle. The cutting head is also selectively positionable in at least two angular positions relative to its support. The cutting blade is secured in a longitudinal radial slot in the roller and projects therefrom through a guide slit formed in a crosspiece of the cutting shoe. The construction and arrangement of the cutting head and cutting shoe assure a compact, versatile structure having a number of adjustment possibilities.

  • Patent number: 4192315
Abstract: This disclosure relates to a clip for surgical purposes comprising a coil spring having at least one loop and a pair of crossing legs. The ends of the legs which extend beyond the crossing point are formed as clamping jaws. Because the portions of the legs adjoining the loop extend generally parallel to one another and the ends of the legs run side-by-side, and because a ring is provided at the crossing point for holding the legs together, the clip can be constructed with such small dimensions that it is particularly advantageously useful for neurosurgical purposes.

  • Patent number: 4116200
Abstract: A surgical milling tool with a hand-operated milling machine for milling the heads or sockets of bone joints of spherical shape is disclosed. The tool is formed of a hemispherical cup integrally formed with a cylindrical skirt and flange and is provided with a plurality of openings of semi-oval shape, each having a cutting edge arranged at the minor axis of the oval shape. The openings are situated such that, upon rotation of the cup, the cutting edges thereof overlap to provide a continuous cutting edge surface conforming generally to the shape of the cup.
