  • Patent number: 11602218
Abstract: The invention is directed to a base for chairs or tables having at least one centrally located column structure. Specifically, the invention is directed to a base composed of several parts, comprising a hub and load-carrying arms radiating therefrom. According to the invention, each arm is separately manufactured and provided with a cavity at least at its proximal end and is individually joined to protrusions on the hub which are inserted into said cavities, and the joint between arms and protrusions is glued.

  • Patent number: 10299598
Abstract: The invention relates to a hub construction for a rotatable chair, whereby an uncomplicated and robust plain bearing design is provided. The plain bearing parts are manufactured of metal in such a way that the bearing surface on the underlying pin is softer than that of the overlying sleeve. A plain bearing according to the invention may be provided with an adjustable device for obtaining higher friction and thus an increased rotational resistance. In the upper part of the pin is arranged a horizontal bore, into which is fitted a plug shaped body, the ends of which extend outside the mouths of the bore in the bearing surface as an adjusting screw in the upper end of the pin is tightened against the middle section of the plug-shaped body.

  • Patent number: 10080439
Abstract: The invention relates to a hub construction for a rotatable chair, which automatically returns to the initial position when the chair is relieved. In a prior art hub the return force was counteracted mainly by the friction in the hub bearing, which, regardless thereof that the hub was loaded, was not always sufficient for the hub to maintain its rotational position, for example, when the sitting person lifted his feet off the floor. For obtaining higher friction when the hub is loaded, it has been provided with a brake. The brake can preferably be a pair of spring discs which are compressed when the hub is loaded, whereby the brake disc makes contact with the brake surface.
