Patent number: 6197472Abstract: The present invention relates to a recording material having a substrate and a negative-working, radiation-sensitive layer which contains a diazonium salt, metal-free colored pigments dispersed in an organic polymeric binder, transparent spacer pigments having a pore volume of more than 1.0 ml/g and a polymeric binder. The predispersal of the colored pigments is achieved by milling with an organic polymeric binder containing hydroxyl groups, some or all of which have been reacted with a di- or polycarboxylic anhydride so that the binder has an acid number of from 20 to 200. Printing plates in which the printing parts have a clearly visible contrast relative to the substrate can be produced from the recording material.Type: GrantFiled: March 21, 2000Date of Patent: March 6, 2001Assignee: Afga-Gevaert N.V.Inventors: Klaus-Peter Konrad, Andreas Elsaesser, Frank Fischer, John Kynaston Davies

Patent number: 5786128Abstract: The present invention discloses a method for making a lithographic printing plate comprising the steps of:(1) image-wise exposing an imaging element having on a hydrophilic surface of a lithographic base a photosensitive layer comprising a photosensitive polymer containing aryl-diazosulfonate units;(2) and developing a thus obtained image-wise exposed imaging element by mounting it on a print cylinder of a printing press and supplying an aqueous dampening liquid and/or ink to said photosensitive layer while rotating said print cylinder.Excellent printing results are obtained with a printing plate perpared according to the above described method. The lithographic base may be an anodized aluminium or a support provided with an ink-repellant layer containing a cross-linked hydrophilic binder.Type: GrantFiled: September 18, 1996Date of Patent: July 28, 1998Assignee: AFGA-Gevaert, N.V.Inventors: Joan Vermeersch, Marc Van Damme
