  • Publication number: 20140131147
Abstract: A multi-plate disc brake has interleaved rotatable and non-rotatable brake discs (11) within a brake housing (13) and a ball and ramp type brake actuator (12) comprising first and second relatively rotatable annular actuator discs (20, 21) with actuator balls (22) therebetween located in circumferentially ramped pockets (20a, 21a) on opposing faces of the actuator discs. A wedge-shaped actuator member (23) has an actuating means (24A, 24B) to displace the actuator member between confronting abutments (20b, 21b) on the respective actuator discs to relatively rotate the discs to cause the balls to rise up the ramped pockets and hence expand the actuator axially to move the brake discs (11) into engagement. Cooling oil is supplied into the brake housing through the wedge-shaped actuator member (23) when the brake is engaged.

  • Publication number: 20140102227
Abstract: A vehicle PTO driveline (10) in which a PTO input shaft (11) drives a PTO wet clutch (12) which when engaged drives a PTO output shaft (13). The driveline has an eccentric formation (34) on the input shaft (11) which oscillates a pumping piston (31) when the input shaft rotates, which piston pumps cooling/lubricating fluid from a reservoir (25c) to the wet clutch (12). The piston is connected with the eccentric formation by a ring (33) which surrounds the eccentric formation (34) and a hollow tube (32) which is attached to the ring and which carries the piston at a lower end, the piston oscillating inside a chamber (31a) when the input shaft rotates. The chamber (31a) is connected with the fluid reservoir (25c) and the oscillating piston pumps the fluid along the hollow tube (32) into the ring (33) which then delivers the fluid into internal passages (38) in the input shaft from where the fluid flows to the wet clutch.

  • Publication number: 20140070569
Abstract: An engine hood (10) for a tractor (1) or similar vehicle, the hood being of generally inverted U-shaped configuration with an upper top portion and downwardly extending side portions. The hood is hinged adjacent one end for upward pivoting between a closed position in which the associated engine is covered and an open position which provides access to the engine. The hood has an outer skin (100) and inner reinforcing members secured to the inside of the outer skin to form two beam- like structures (140, 141) which extend away from the hinge towards the other end of the hood to stiffen the hood against twisting. Inner reinforcing members extend between the beam-like structures to further stiffen the hood and the outer skin at the other end of the hood houses lighting units and has an inner reinforcing member extending between the beam-like structures which also supports the lighting units. The invention also provides a method of assembling such a hood.

  • Publication number: 20140062031
Abstract: A rotary seal arrangement has a rotatable component (2) supported within a machine component (3), the machine component (3) forming a housing structure for a sealing means (23) which acts to seal off a high-pressure area (10) between the components (2,3) to allow the passage of high pressure fluid therebetween. The seal arrangement includes a holding element (30) for mounting in the machine component (3) to support spaced sealing members (23) therein to define said high pressure area (10) therebetween. The arrangement is particularly suitable for use where the rotatable component (2) is formed as a rotatable shaft and the holding element (30) and sealing members (23) are arranged around the shaft such as, for example, in a vehicle tyre pressure changing system for use on an agricultural tractor.
