  • Patent number: 4421399
Abstract: An arrangement for developing film has a developing chamber which is provided with an inlet and an outlet for the developer. The chamber is located above a first container having an open upper end and arranged to receive developer discharged through the outlet of the chamber. This container is located inside of or above a second container arranged to receive developer which overflows from the first container. The containers have respective outlets which merge into a single conduit leading to the developing chamber. A heating device surrounds the conduit or is accommodated in the first container and functions to heat the developer to a predetermined temperature required for development. A pump for circulating the developer is arranged in the conduit which leads to the developing chamber. The outlet of the second container is provided with a valve which is controlled by a thermal sensor.

  • Patent number: 4419441
Abstract: Hydrophobic substances, particularly hydrophobic additive for photographic layers such as couplers may be dispersed in an aqueous medium in a two--or more--stage process using an oil-former. In a main dispersion stage the total quantity of the hydrophobic substance is dispersed in the aqueous medium without oil-former or with only part of the total quantity of oil-former. The residual portion of oil-former is dispersed in the aqueous medium without hydrophobic substance in at least one further dispersion stage preceding or following the main dispersion stage. The oil-former used is preferably a compound or a mixture of compounds selected from triaryl phosphates, dialkyl phthalates, monoesters of .alpha.-substituted succinic acid or of hydrogenated phthalic acids and aliphatic or cycloaliphatic alcohols of at least 10 carbon atoms. The process yields dispersions of improved stability of digestion.

  • Patent number: 4418420
Abstract: X-ray film in a cassette or camera is magnetically gripped by a pair of magnetic units which engage opposite sides of the film. Each of the units includes a sheet of magnetic material and an intensifying screen located on that side of the associated magnetic sheet which faces the other unit. The units have cooperating first portions which engage a first region of the film and cooperating second portions which engage a second region of the film. The units are designed in such a manner that the magnetic force of the second portions exceeds that of the first portions so that the second region of the film is gripped more strongly than its first region. Furthermore, the units are arranged such that the second portions thereof engage the film no later than the first portions thereof. In this manner, entrapment of air bubbles on the surface of the film is prevented and image quality is improved.

  • Patent number: 4417809
Abstract: The pattern scanning projection device for copying machines of the type in which a pattern is projected in a strip-like manner on an image recording support by means of a pattern scanning unit which is movable in guiding grooves and includes a plurality of scanning lens plates. The lens plates for the sake of uniform projection of partial images cooperate with aperture and/or image field diaphragms and with separating diaphragms. The lens plates are individually insertable into an objective housing which is detachable from the copying machine. The housing is assembled of two parts, one housing part being provided with mounting longitudinal grooves engaging one longitudinal edge of respective lens plates and the lens plates being centered in the longitudinal grooves by separate centering grooves and being secured in central position at one point only so as to permit longitudinal displacement due to mechanical or thermal stresses.

  • Patent number: 4416529
Abstract: An arrangement for developing or fixing film has a container for accommodating a developing or fixing solution. A pair of spaced strips or sheets extend across the container. The surfaces of the strips or sheets which face one another are provided with a series of aligned slots. The slots are designed to receive roller racks for transporting film through the developing of fixing solution. The spacing and arrangement of the slots are such that several racks having the same width, or several racks having different widths, may be arranged side-by-side in the container. Each rack has a main gear which drives all of the rolls of the respective rack. The main gears of adjacent racks are coupled to one another while the main gear of one of the racks is further connected to a drive located outside of the container. This drive thus actuates all of the racks in the container. The racks have alignment rods for aligning the racks relative to one another and to the container.

  • Patent number: 4408340
Abstract: A cassette or an analogous supports for sheet-like X-ray films has a bottom wall and a top wall which latter is connected to the bottom wall by a hinge. One of the walls carries a magnetic plate which is overlapped by a first intensifier screen for the X-ray film. The other wall carries a flat flexible receptacle for a ferromagnetic layer therewithin, and the receptacle is overlapped by a second intensifier screen. When a film is inserted between the two screens, the cassette is closed whereby the magnetic layer attracts the ferromagnetic layer with the result that the two screens are biased against the respective sides of the film therebetween. The second screen may constitute an integral part of the receptacle which latter consists of a material, such as paper or synthetic plastic, that is permeable to X-rays.

  • Patent number: 4406538
Abstract: A color copier has a control circuit for controlling the exposure of an original to be copied. The control circuit has a processing channel for each of the three primary colors. Each of the channels is associated with photodetectors which is sensitive to the color of the respective channel. The photodetectors sense the intensity of the light in the respective color transmitted through the original and generate signals indicative of the density of the original in that color. The density of the original in each color is compared with the neutral gray density of the original. The difference between the density of each color and the neutral gray density is used to calculate an undercorrection factor for the respective color. The undercorrection factor is used to regulate the exposure time for light of the respective color or the intensity of light of the respective color during exposure.
