Abstract: A preparation process for a first aqueous dispersion comprising an ex-situ photosensitive silver halide and a substantially light-insensitive silver salt of an organic carboxylic acid, comprising the steps of: separately preparing a second aqueous dispersion comprising the ex-situ photosensitive silver halide and a third aqueous dispersion comprising the substantially light-insensitive silver salt of an organic carboxylic acid; and mixing the second aqueous dispersion with the third aqueous dispersion to produce a mixture thereof, characterized in that the first aqueous dispersion thereby produced is substantially free of a water-soluble metal or ammonium salt of an aliphatic carboxylic acid with greater than 12 carbon atoms and the process further comprises a step selected from the group consisting of: increasing the pH of the second aqueous dispersion to a value of at least 8.0 prior to mixing with the third aqueous dispersion; increasing the pH of the third aqueous dispersion to a value of at least 8.
Abstract: A method of lithographic printing is disclosed which comprises the steps of unwinding a web of a flexible lithographic base from a supply spool, the lithographic base having a hydrophilic surface, wrapping the lithographic base around a cylinder of a printing press, applying on the lithographic base an image-recording layer which is removable in a single-fluid ink or can be rendered removable in a single-fluid ink by exposure to heat or light, image-wise exposing the image-recording layer to heat or light, processing the image-recording layer by supplying single-fluid ink, thereby obtaining a printing master, printing by supplying single-fluid ink to the printing master which is mounted on a plate cylinder of the printing press; and removing the printing master from the plate cylinder, preferably by winding up on an uptake spool.

Abstract: A negative-working heat-sensitive material for making a lithographic printing plate by direct-to-plate recording is disclosed. The material comprises in the order given a lithographic base having a hydrophilic surface, an oleophilic imaging layer and a cross-linked hydrophilic upper layer which comprises an organic compound derived from sulfonic acid, sulfuric acid, phosphoric acid or phosphonic acid. Materials according to the invention are characterized by an increased water-acceptance in the non-printing areas, which allows a rapid start-up of the press.
Abstract: A digital image representation of a radiological image is acquired and applied to a display device connected to a computer and displayed. A measurement scheme is retrieved from the computer and activated. Measurements are performed on the displayed image under guidance of the activated measurement scheme.

Abstract: A dot matrix printing method is provided for printing an image on a printing medium with reduced banding, by moving, with respect to the medium, a printing head in a fast scan direction during a plurality of printing passes. The method comprises writing the image during the plurality of printing passes by mutually interstitial printing steps and/or interlacing steps, wherein the writing step comprises moving the medium with a transport distance step in a slow scan direction perpendicular to the fast scan direction between the printing passes of the at least two sub-images. The sum of all transport distance steps after writing one swath of each sub-image is exactly one head length, and the transport distance steps are performed in at least two different step lengths. An apparatus for dot matrix printing an image using sub-images, and transport distance steps with at least two different step lengths, is also provided.

Abstract: A method of correcting artefacts in a processed digital image represented by a multi-scale gradient representation being obtained by non-linear processing of a multi-scale gradient representation of an original image. Abstract: A method for the preparation of a negative working lithographic printing plate is disclosed. A printing plate precursor comprising a lithographic support and an image forming layer is mounted on a printing press. A liquid containing a dissolution inhibitor is image-wise dispensed on the precursor by means of ink jet printing.
