Abstract: A controlled release fertilizer composition and methods to produce the controlled release fertilizer composition are described. The controlled release fertilizer composition comprises a water soluble fertilizer core that is coated with a polymeric layer, intermediate layer, and a sulfur layer. If desired, the sulfur layer can be coated with an outer water-insoluble layer.

Abstract: Thiol ester compositions, methods of making the thiol ester compositions, and methods of using the thiol ester compositions are provided. In some embodiments, the thiol ester compositions include thiol esters, hydroxy thiol esters and cross-linked thiol esters. The thiol ester composition can be used to produce cross-linked thiol esters, sulfonic acid-containing esters, sulfonate containing esters and thioacrylate containing esters. The thiol ester compositions can be used to produce polythiourethanes. The polythiourethanes can be used in fertilizers and fertilizer coatings.

Abstract: A one-step method for production of green-colored, stabilized wet-process phosphoric acid in which black-colored, wet-process phosphoric acid containing incidental metallic impurities and a carbonaceous content of less than 1000 ppm is oxidized to produce a green-colored liquid having a carbonaceous content less than 500 ppm. A typical green-colored liquid product produced by this one-step process has an emf of greater than 800 mv.

Abstract: There is disclosed a wet process for the recovery of phosphate from phosphate rock which comprises leaching finely divided particles of phosphate rock with a protic acid at a temperature and for a time that favours dissolution, into a leachate, of the phosphate in relation to an impurity, and, isolating the leachate. An appropriate combination of particle size, leach time and leach temperature can achieve high phosphate recovery while reducing the amount of impurities.
Abstract: In accordance with the present invention it has been found that the growth of conifer seedlings in the greenhouses and in the field can be enhanced when inocula comprising selected bacterial strain are employed. In particular, bacterial strains Arthrobacter sp. 44-9 ATCC 55035 and Pseudomonas fluorescencs 36-43 ATCC 55034. Bacterial strains can promote the growth of conifer seedlings at cold temperature and mildly acidic environments characteristic of conifer soils.

Abstract: A method for growing a conifer seedling includes selecting and treating a conifer seed, prior to planting thereof, with a Coryneform, Pseudomonas or Serratia bacterial strain that enhances the root growth of that conifer seedling. Additionally, transplanted conifer seedlings may be grown by treating their roots with root growth-enhancing Coryneform, Pseudomonas and Serratia strains and conifer seeds may be modified by treatment with those strains.
