  • Patent number: 8021536
Abstract: A method for generating a hydride gas of metal M1 in an electrochemical cell comprising a cathode comprising metal M1, a sacrificial anode comprising metal M2, an initial concentration of aqueous electrolyte solution comprising a metal hydroxide, M3OH, wherein the sacrificial metal anode electrochemically oxidizes in the presence of the aqueous electrolyte solution comprising M3OH to form a metal salt, and the hydride gas of metal M1 is formed by reducing the metal M1 of the cathode. The method comprises the steps of determining solubility profile curves of the metal salt as the M3OH is consumed and the metal oxide is formed by the oxidation reaction at various concentrations of M3OH; determining a maximum concentration of M3OH that, as it is consumed, does not yield a concentration of metal salt that precipitates out of the electrolyte solution; and choosing a concentration of M3OH that is in the range of at and within 5% less than the maximum concentration of M3OH to be the initial concentration of M3OH.

  • Patent number: 8021119
Abstract: A locking plate fast fastening ceiling fan blades includes a clamp plate. A chute is formed on the clamp plate, where a pushing board is contained. The clamp plate in the chute is provided with a first wedge unit and a thru hole. Thus, when a set of blades is installed on a blade rack of a ceiling fan, only the blade is set around several pillars on the blade rack, the clamp plate of fixing plate is set to locate on the pillar, and a pillar is made to pass through the thru hole. The pushing board of fixing plate is shifted toward the pillar, making the front end of pushing board stay close to the side of pillar and the first wedge unit of clamp plate stay close to the terminal of pushing board for fast and exact completion of fixing of the blade onto the blade rack.

  • Patent number: 8021617
Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed for measuring sulfur trioxide/sulfuric acid content of flue gas. A probe is provided that extracts two separate lines of gas samples simultaneously from the flue gas. One of the two lines is dynamically spiked with a known quantity of sulfur trioxide, preferably generated in the probe. A comparison of sulfur trioxide/sulfuric acid content measurements from the spiked and unspiked lines helps identify and adjust for inherent biases in the measuring system. Also disclosed are catalyst structures and methods for use thereof for generating sulfur trioxide at known concentration.

  • Patent number: 8015920
Abstract: A solid fuel rocket burn rate control employing electrical energy preheating of the fuel grain at a plurality of locations dispersed over the grain burn face cross-section as a thrust control arrangement. The electrical energy of the preheating is generated by electrical battery cells which are dispersed across the grain cross-section and are triggered from an inert state into energy generation by burn face heat. The preheating situs moves continually in response to movement of the grain burn face; this is achieved through the use of high temperature electrical battery cell materials responding to the approach of the grain burn face by increased chemical activity and decreased electrical resistance. Preferably, the preheating is directly accomplished by the heat from electrical and other losses in the battery cells.

  • Publication number: 20110217691
Abstract: A fermentation process uses substantially pure oxygen. The oxygen is the only reactive gas which is injected into a fermentation vessel. The oxygen is moved through the vessel solely by its own pressure. The process can be used with both mechanically-agitated and air-lifted fermenters. The mechanically-agitated fermenter includes an analyzer for measuring oxygen concentration in the exhaust line, and adjusting the flow of fresh oxygen into the vessel accordingly. In the air-lifted fermenter, an analyzer measures the oxygen concentration in the head space of the vessel, and operates valves which either recycle the gas from the head space, or vent that gas to the outside, according to the measured concentration. A stream of nitrogen is periodically injected into the vessel to drive out carbon dioxide and other gases, to control the pH of the fermentation medium. The present invention substantially improves the efficiency of a commercial fermentation process.
