    Abstract: A system and method for purifying liquefied corrosive gases of metallic impurities is described. The principle for this purification method relies on vapor-phase transfilling the vapor phase from a source container into a receiving container. This method has been observed to decrease metal concentrations by a factor of at least 1000 and, decreases the metallic impurity levels in the resulting condensate. The vapor transfer is accomplished by controlled differential pressure rather than mechanical pumping, thereby generating no particle or metal impurities.

    Abstract: A gas sampling and inlet device for a mass spectrometer has a hollow housing sleeve with an open inside region and a hollow inner sleeve with an open inside region, with the inner sleeve coaxial to the housing sleeve. One end of the housing sleeve and one end of the inner sleeve are connected with a single first end cap. The second end of the housing sleeve has a second end cap, but the second end of the inner sleeve is open such that the inside of the inner sleeve is open to the inside of the housing sleeve. The first end cap has a small diameter orifice adapted to receive a gaseous fluid. The second end cap is connected to a mass spectrometer. The second end cap has an orifice adapted to receive a gaseous fluid into the mass spectrometer that is substantially smaller in diameter than the orifice in the first end cap. The housing sleeve has a vacuum pump port to allow a vacuum to be created in the interior of the inlet device.

    Abstract: A process additive for polyolefin films and foams produces products having reduced aging time and reduced greasiness and reduced grease-like transfer as compared to glycerol monostearate (GMS). Carbon dioxide based blowing agents are suitable. The process additive comprises a fatty acid Naliphatic alcohol amide of the general formula R—CON(R′)R″. R is a fatty hydrocarbon radical having from about 8 to 30 carbons. R′ typically is hydrogen. R′ can also be an alkyl radical of from about 1 to 6 carbons or an alkyl alcohol radical of from about 1 to 6 carbons. R″ is an alkyl alcohol fragment of from about 1 to 6 carbons. The alkyl alcohol fragments can be monohydric or polyhydric. Secondary fatty monoalkanolamides in which R′ is hydrogen are particularly useful, especially stearamide monoethanolamine (MEA).

    Abstract: A dynamic blending gas delivery system and method are disclosed. A blended gaseous mixture produced in accordance with the method is used in chemical vapor deposition tools or similar process tools. One embodiment is a multi-step method for processing a plurality of fluids to form a blended gaseous mixture and supplying the blended gaseous mixture to a distribution header from which the blended gaseous mixture is delivered to at least one tool. The first step is to supply a first fluid. The second step is to heat the first fluid to a temperature where at least some portion of the first fluid is a vapor. The third step is to superheat the vapor portion of the first fluid to a temperature sufficient to avoid condensation of the blended gaseous mixture delivered to the at least one tool. The fourth step is to supply a second fluid.

A bracket extends from the flange and a reversing switch is mounted on a free end of the bracket. The reversing switch has a switch bar that extends through the housing assembly. The lower casing abuts the upper casing to form a chamber to hold the motor. The lower casing includes multiple equally spaced through holes defined in the bottom of the lower casing, and a slot is defined in of the lower casing to allow the switch bar of the reversing switch to extend through the lower casing.

    Abstract: Fluorine is removed from exhaust gas coming from a cleaning, etching or CVD operation in semiconductor fabrication by passing the gas through a fixed bed of activated alumina having a high total pore volume while maintaining the fluorine level of the gas passing into the alumina bed at 4 volume percent or less. Nitrogen can be added to the exhaust gas to control fluorine concentration. Using alumina having an initial total pore volume above 0.35 cc/gm and limiting the fluorine level in the exhaust gas enables the fixed bed to operate without undue plugging or sintering.

    Abstract: A method and apparatus are set forth for transferring a cryogenic fluid. A polymeric, coaxial (i.e. “tube-in-tube” geometry) transfer line is utilized where a first portion of the cryogenic fluid flows through the inner tube while a second portion flows through an annulus between the inner tube and outer tube which annulus is at a lower pressure than the inside tube. In one embodiment, the inner tube is substantially non-porous and the transfer line is preceded by a flow control means to distribute at least part of the first and second portions of the cryogenic fluid to the inner tube and annulus respectively. In a second embodiment, the inner tube is porous with respect to both gas permeation and liquid permeation such that both a gaseous part and a liquid part of the first portion permeates into the annulus to form at least a part of the second portion.

    Abstract: Many longitudinally pumped miniature lasers (single-frequency Nd:YAG microchip lasers and Q-switched microchip lasers) are sufficiently short that only a small fraction of the incident pump light is absorbed as it passes through the gain medium. The efficiency of such a laser is improved when the output face of the laser is coated to reflect the pump light, thereby allowing double-pass absorption of the light within the gain medium. The total absorption may still be small, however. Additionally, the divergence of typical pump sources (diode lasers or optical fibers) is large enough that there is often poor overlap between the reflected pump light and the oscillating mode, and the efficiency of the device is not significantly enhanced. If the output face of the miniature laser is coated to be highly transmitting to the pump radiation, the transmitted pump light can be collected with a lens and focused in to an amplifying medium (Nd:YVO4).

    Abstract: A scroll compressor having improved efficiencies includes a fixed plate having a spiral involute and an orbiting plate having a spiral involute wrap. The fixed and orbiting plates are positioned in a housing such that the spiral involute wraps mesh with each other to define chambers. A sealant being applied to tips and sides of said involute wraps, said sealant substantially is closing any gaps between the tip of the involute wrap and the plate opposing the involute wrap. The sealant is chosen from the group consisting essentially of a grease, a dampening gel, and an epoxy. If a grease is used, then the grease is preferably a low vapor pressure grease. During assembly of the scroll compressor, the sealant is applied to tips and sides of the involute wraps. After the scroll compressor has been assembled, it is run to purge excess sealant, leaving sealant only in the gaps between the two scrolls.
