  • Patent number: 6413050
Abstract: A friction damped turbine blade is disclosed. The turbine blade is formed of segments configured so as to form an assemblage corresponding to the airfoil shaped body. Each of the segments is in slidable contact with an adjacent segment. During turbine operation, the segments rub against one another due to the stresses placed on the blade, imparting frictional damping to the turbine blade.

  • Patent number: 6406645
Abstract: A process additive for polyolefin films and foams produces products having reduced aging time and reduced greasiness and reduced grease-like transfer as compared to glycerol monostearate (GMS). Carbon dioxide based blowing agents are suitable. The process additive comprises a fatty acid N-aliphatic alcohol amide of the general formula R—CON(R′)R″. R is a fatty hydrocarbon radical having from about 8 to 30 carbons. R′ typically is hydrogen. R′ can also be an alkyl radical of from about 1 to 6 carbons or an alkyl alcohol radical of from about 1 to 6 carbons. R″ is an alkyl alcohol fragment of from about 1 to 6 carbons. The alkyl alcohol fragments can be monohydric or polyhydric. Secondary fatty monoalkanolamides in which R′ is hydrogen are particularly useful, especially stearamide monoethanolamine (MEA).

  • Patent number: H2032
Abstract: A twin spool counter-rotating turbofan gas turbine engine having a counter-rotating fan module integrated with the high pressure compressor and driven by a counter-rotating turbine utilizing only two drive shafts. The two drive shafts are aerodynamically coupled and rotate in opposite directions relative to each other with or without the use of a gearbox. The integration between the fan module and high pressure compressor allows the fan blade rows to operate at the same mechanical speed of the high pressure compressor blade rows. An afterburner module may be added to the present invention to provide thrust augmentation.

  • Patent number: H2033
Abstract: In a microwave communications link, an antijamming antenna system with enhanced main beam nulling is realized by providing gain in the difference port output of a monopulse antenna compared to the sum port. As a consequence interference signals are nulled out at much closer angles to the desired signal than is the case when the gain is the same in both channels. The gain is introduced when a dominant jammer is detected. Detection of a dominant jammer is identified for the conditions in which the monopulse sum channel power level exceeds the sum of the difference channel power levels and the system processor output signal/noise ratio is unsatisfactory.
