Patent number: 11926433Abstract: A time-delay latch for securing a structure in a specified position includes a housing, a fluid chamber contained within the housing for holding fluid, a pin that extends through the fluid chamber and is axially movable within and through the fluid chamber, and a release frame movably secured within the housing. When the pin is in a latched position, the release frame engages with the pin to prevent axial movement of the pin. When the pin is in an unlatched position, the release frame disengages from the pin to allow axial movement of the pin. The axial movement of the pin between the latched position and the unlatched position requires a prescribed duration of time to elapse. During operation, the axial movement of the pin between the unlatched position and the latched position can occur faster than the prescribed duration of time.Type: GrantFiled: July 30, 2021Date of Patent: March 12, 2024Assignees: Airbus Americas, Inc., Airbus Operations GmbHInventors: John A. Patent number: 11927042Abstract: A rapidly disassembled hinge suitable for use in an aircraft includes a first attachment plate attached to a supported structure, a second attachment plate attached to a supporting structure, and a pin with a notch in an outer surface thereof, which is insertable into portions of the first and second attachment plates for pivotably connecting the first and second attachment plates together. The pin is inserted so that the notch is positioned within the second attachment structure when the hinge is in an assembled state. A key includes a main body and a distal end extending from the main body, the distal end being insertable within the notch of the pin. The key is movable such that the distal end of the key can be inserted into and removed from engagement with the notch of the pin to provide for toolless disassembly of the hinge.Type: GrantFiled: July 30, 2021Date of Patent: March 12, 2024Assignee: Airbus Americas, Inc.Inventor: John A. Patent number: 11530024Abstract: An aircraft is equipped with an auxiliary access control barrier (AACB) to prevent access to an area of the aircraft. The AACB includes laterally extendable door panels that are slidably attached to each other to vary a width of the AACB, a hinge by which the door panels are pivotably attached to the aircraft, such that the door panels are pivotable between a deployed position, in which the door panels are positioned across the opening to prevent passage through the opening and in which the AACB has a first width, and a stowed position, in which the door panels are positioned to allow passage through the opening and in which the AACB has a second width, and one or more locks to prevent relative motion between the door panels to fix the width of the AACB and/or to secure the AACB within the opening in the bulkhead.Type: GrantFiled: September 8, 2020Date of Patent: December 20, 2022Assignee: AIRBUS AMERICAS, INC.Inventor: John A. Patent number: 11407484Abstract: A sub-structure for an aircraft cabin monument is disclosed. The sub-structure includes a plurality of mounting attachment points for supporting a mount to engage with a corresponding mounting attachment point on a lattice structure of a load carrying partition wall. The aircraft cabin monument is supported by the load carrying partition wall through the sub-structure, supporting a substantial weight of the monument, and relieving the cabin floor from supporting the load and weight of the aircraft cabin monument.Type: GrantFiled: June 14, 2019Date of Patent: August 9, 2022Assignee: AIRBUS AMERICAS, INC.Inventor: Iwan Pangalila

Patent number: 10946948Abstract: A door assembly for a vehicle. The door assembly includes a door frame, a door panel, a rotating strut, and a linear door guide. The door opens and closes through a combination of rotating and sliding motion, which minimizes the required operational footprint. The strut is mounted on the door panel such that the strut is hidden from view when the door is in an open position.Type: GrantFiled: June 28, 2018Date of Patent: March 16, 2021Assignees: Airbus Operations GmbH, Airbus Americas, Inc.Inventors: Andreas Heidtmann, David Will, Roland Lange, Sassa Nadine Boos

Patent number: 10933967Abstract: An aircraft includes a partition wall for supporting monuments such as lavatories and galleys. The partition wall may support a large majority of the weight of the monuments such that the flooring of the aircraft is relieved of the force from various monuments. Additionally, the partition wall may be used to support the fuselage of the aircraft.Type: GrantFiled: December 15, 2017Date of Patent: March 2, 2021Assignee: AIRBUS AMERICAS, INC.Inventor: Iwan Pangalila

Patent number: 10273006Abstract: A trolley for collecting waste includes a housing having a main waste chamber for receiving waste, and wheels attached to a bottom wall of the housing. The housing has at least one module seating, each configured to receive a waste module for collecting waste. Each module seating includes fasteners configured to releasably couple to a waste module. The waste module includes a module housing having at its top surface a top opening for inserting waste, and having a module waste chamber for receiving waste inserted through the top opening. The module housing includes second connection means at its outside surface, which are configured to releasably interact with first connection means of a trolley for collecting waste. Also disclosed herein is a system that includes the trolley and at least one waste module inserted into the at least one module seating.Type: GrantFiled: September 30, 2016Date of Patent: April 30, 2019Assignees: AIRBUS OPERATIONS GMBH, AIRBUS SAS, AIRBUS AMERICAS, INC.Inventors: Matthias Reiss, Nicolas Jourdan, Ralf Schliwa, Donald De Gutz, Gabriel Ribeiro Reis, Denise Renata Passos Ikuno, Liana Maki Shintate, Tadeu Kendy de Oliveira Omae, Lucas Marques Otsuka, Lucas Neumann De Antonio
