Abstract: In one embodiment, a probe includes a first facet associated with a first pressure port operable to measure a first wind pressure, a second facet associated with a second pressure port operable to measure a second wind pressure, and a third facet associated with a third pressure port operable to measure a third wind pressure. The second facet is adjacent to the first facet and the third facet adjacent to the second facet. The probe further includes a fourth facet adjacent to the third facet and a fifth facet adjacent to the fourth facet and to the first facet. The first facet, the second facet, the third facet, the fourth facet, and the fifth facet are located between a first end portion and a second end portion of the probe.
Abstract: A particulate matter emission monitor for monitoring concentration of particulate matter concentration in a fluent stream passing through an industrial stack is tested and/or calibrated using apparatus which is scaled down in size from the much larger industrial stack.

Abstract: A railroad car adapted for open-top transport of materials including a receptacle for receiving a selected material. The receptacle is defined vertically by a floor, defined laterally by first and second sidewalls having a height and extending at an angle from the floor and defined longitudinally by first and second end-walls having a height and extending at an angle from the floor. A lateral baffle disposed within the receptacle between the first and second sidewalls laterally partitions the receptacle into a plurality of cavities for reducing aerodynamic drag during open-top motion of the railroad car.
Abstract: A static mixer device for mixing separate fluid streams entering the device in order to achieve a more uniform, or homogeneous, characteristic, such as temperature for example, in the resulting fluid mixture stream exiting the device. An exemplary embodiment of device comprises a series of parallel rectangular walls arranged in side-by-side, spaced apart relationship to form a series of rectangular spaces. The perimeters of these spaces are selectively closed to define respective first and second inlets and an outlet. The inlets sub-divide the respective entering fluid streams into sheet-like streams that are interleaved as they exit the device at the outlet. This interleaving of one stream with the other promotes increased homogeneity of the mixture stream in a shorter distance downstream of the confluence of the entrance streams.
