Abstract: A network device operable with a hybrid mesh network having a plurality of network and client devices, comprising: a processor, a memory, and a first independently addressable network interface and a second independently addressable network interface, the first network interface and the second network interface being adapted to enable multiple communication pathways within the hybrid mesh network wherein the network device is configured to determine communication characteristics of one or more of the multiple communication pathways thereby to enable determination of optimization of communication within the hybrid mesh network by partitioning of the hybrid mesh network into two or more mesh islands wherein communication within each mesh island is non-overlapping with the another of the mesh islands.

Abstract: An access point including a memory; at least one network interface configured to interface over a network with one or more of a other access point and a user equipment (UE); and a processor configured to, establish, via the at least one interface, a virtual link with the UE based on the respective one of the at least one virtual address, and transfer the virtual link to the other access by transmitting a command to the other AP to set, after a time period, at least one network interface associated therewith to be addressable via the respective one of the at least one virtual address, and disassociating the at least one network interface and the respective one of at least one virtual address after the time period.

Abstract: In one example embodiment, a device includes a processor. The processor is configured to determine a plurality of data transmission rates between at least one client, an access point and the device belonging to a wireless network, determine a best communication route, from among available communication routes for the at least one client to communicate with the access point based on the determined plurality of data transmission rates and direct the at least one client to communicate with the access point via the determined best communication route.
