  • Patent number: 5761905
Abstract: An exhaust manifold has a plurality of double pipes, each of which includes an inner pipe and an outer pipe, and a collecting pipe to which each of the double pipes is connected. The outer peripheral portion of the outer pipe is secured to the collecting pipe, and a thermal insulating layer of air, which is formed as a closed space so that substantially no exhaust gas will penetrate it, is disposed on an inner peripheral side of the portion at which the outer periphery of the outer pipe is secured to the collecting pipe. Owing to the presence of the thermal insulating layer, heat is not transmitted to the welded joint directly via the inner and outer pipes.

  • Patent number: 5284230
Abstract: A ventilated disc unit includes inner and outer annular discs coaxially coupled to each other by rib units having bifurcated outer ends, and a rib unit comprising a radially extending straight segment extending towards an inner periphery and a pair of bifurcated segments which are arranged symmetrically with respect to the straight segment so as to open towards outer ends thereof. The straight segment is discontinuous with the bifurcated segments. A plurality of grooves are disposed extending in a radial direction on inner surfaces of the inner and outer annular discs from the inner periphery of the annular discs to the middle of the annular discs. The disc unit produces increased air flow which assures efficient cooling of the discs, particularly bifurcated point areas thereof.

  • Patent number: 5184663
Abstract: A ventilated disk used in automobiles and industrial vehicles includes a pair of mutually opposing disk portions, a plurality of radially extending ribs integrally formed with the disk portions and interposed therebetween, and at least one annular damping member. Formed in each rib is at least one radially extending oblong hole which passes through the rib in the circumferential direction. The oblong holes in the respective ribs form at least one circular array along a circular whose center is the center of the disk. The annular damping member(s) extends/extend through the oblong holes forming the annular array(s) and is in contacting engagement with the outer end portion and side portion of each oblong hole.

  • Patent number: 5101880
Abstract: A flaskless casting line includes a conveyer apparatus for intermittently transferring a flaskless sand mold row, a casting take-out apparatus having a take-out arm, a sand mold top surface sensor for detecting a sprue of sand molds constituting the flaskless sand mold row, a sprue position detecting apparatus, and a take-out arm driving means. Since the sand mold top surface sensor is disposed over an end of the conveyer apparatus on an upstream side with respect to the casting take-out apparatus, the casting take-out apparatus can be guided to an optimum casting take-out position calculated from a sprue position which is detected by the sprue position detecting apparatus. As a result, it is possible to automate the flaskless casting line as well as the following handling operation.
