Waste debris ejection slots extend radially into the reaming section between the wings. The pilot drill section includes a post and a leading carbide member. The leading carbide member includes a pair of sloped surfaces extending forwardly towards each other and intersecting at a leading cutting edge. The leading cutting edge and sloped surfaces extend along a crescent shaped arc. Forward air delivery bores extend through the body to forward discharge openings at the pilot drill section. Rear air delivery bores extend through the body to rear discharge opening at the waste debris ejection slots.

    Abstract: A retainer for holding a tool bit on an impact hammer including a shielding ring at the retainer distal end. The retainer includes an axially slidable sleeve whereby tool bits may be selectively exchanged on the retainer and whereby tool bits are secured in the retainer for use thereof. The sleeve is axially slidable toward the retainer distal end for placing the retainer in the locked or in-use position, and is axially slidable away from the distal end against the force of a spring for placing the retainer in the tool bit release position. The shielding ring extends radially beyond the axially slidable sleeve for preventing inadvertent axial movement of the sleeve to the release position by debris and/or objects which come in contact with the retainer distal end, and thereby aiding in the prevention of inadvertent release of the tool bit during use.

A stop means limits the twisting movement at the open and closed positions.

    Abstract: A hand held impact tool is disclosed which employs an impact piston reciprocated by means of fluid pressure to impact a working tool. Fluid pressure is continually supplied to a pressure chamber forwardly of the impact piston such that a fluid cushion is established between the forward end of the piston and a piston stop surface resulting in substantial noise reduction. The working tool is biased outwardly of the tool housing by fluid pressure such that the working tool must be placed against an external object and moved axially inwardly to effect impact with the piston, whereby accidental ejection or unintentional operating movement of the working tool is prevented.
