  • Patent number: 4570761
Abstract: Herein disclosed is a cabling structure of a parking cable for a drum brake which is equipped with a backing plate, a brake shoe and a parking lever. A pulley is hinged in a swinging manner to the backing plate or the brake shoe and is formed with two arcuate grooves having different radii measured from the hinging axis. First and second cables are hung in the two arcuate grooves, respectively, and are connected to a brake actuating mechanism and the parking lever, respectively. The direction of leading out the parking cable can be different from that of the force for pulling the parking lever without any breakage of the parking cable. The pulley may alternatively be formed with one arcuate groove. Then, the second cable connected to the parking lever is retained on the pulley such that it extends to partially contact with the first cable.

  • Patent number: 4560035
Abstract: A disc brake includes a rotor, an opposed pair of friction pads each arranged on an opposite side of the rotor, and a caliper which straddles the circumferential periphery of the rotor. The caliper has a pair of leg portions each arranged on an opposite side of the rotor. The caliper is arranged to push one of the friction pads against the rotor by a piston disposed within a cylinder formed in one leg portion and to push the other friction pad against the rotor on the other side with the other leg portion which is arranged to be slidable by a force of reaction to the thrusting action of the piston. A load distribution plate part is formed at the end of the piston which engages the back of the friction pad. This plate part on the piston is arranged to restrict rolling or turning of the piston around its axis by engaging the inner surface of a saddle portion of the caliper straddling the rotor.

  • Patent number: 4505520
Abstract: In a device for preventing a wheel lock condition of a vehicle, a fluid passage switching valve is inserted in a rear wheel brake fluid pressure transmission system. The fluid pressure switching valve is closed during brake application in so far as it is within a braking force range in which a rear wheel braking force must be lower than a front wheel braking force. The speeds of revolution or deceleration of the front and rear wheels are compared by comparison means. When the comparison means detects that the deceleration of the front wheel becomes greater than the deceleration state of the rear wheel by a predetermined value, the fluid passage switching valve opens for a given length of time to allow the rear wheel brake fluid pressure to increase.
