Abstract: A method and system for transmitting data in time division multiplex form is described. The data are composed of start-stop signals with a fixed transmission speed and a fixed signal frame, and of start-stop signals with arbitrary transmission speed and arbitrary signal frames. Signal frame control is used to transmit the signals having fixed transmission speeds and signal frames. The signals having arbitrary transmission speeds and signal frames are transmitted in a speed-transparent manner. Both groups of signals commonly employ in common the system's multiplex frame.

Abstract: A process and apparatus for heat-fixing a heat-fixable material to a carrier in which process the heat is generated by contact between the side of the carrier face from the material and a friction element during relative motion of the carrier and the element. The apparatus includes a friction roller or belt around which the carrier is partly wrapped and which can be rotated relative to the carrier by a driving motor. The roller may comprise a material or low heat conductivity having a thin wall with the interior being filled with insulating material. The apparatus also may include a probe for measuring the temperature of the carrier material in or immediately after contact with the friction element.

Abstract: An ultra sound examining device operating according to the impulse echo process and used for medical purposes comprises an ultra sound sending-receiving system the sender of which transmits ultra sound impulses in predetermined time intervals into the object being examined through a precursor stretch connected in front of the system, for example, water precursor stretch. There is also an echo impulse representing device operated depending upon the transmitted impulses which represents echo impulses of each transmitted impulse received by the receiver one after the other corresponding to the time sequence of their appearance. The invention is particularly characterized in that the time interval between two succesive transmitted impulses of the ultra sound sender has a value which is smaller than the sum of the precursor time of the ultra sound impulses in the precursor stretch and the representation time of the echo impulses on the representing device.

Abstract: An arrangement is described for testing diodes serially interposed in parallel feed lines between the terminals of a voltage source and corresponding d.c. bus bars. The arrangement provides for in-circuit check out of the diodes by providing a first switching means positioned in the feed line between one side of the diode to be tested and its corresponding voltage source terminal. A second switching means is connected to the other terminal of the voltage source, through an ammeter, to the side of the diode to be tested which is nearest the voltage source. The first switching means is opened and then the second switching means is closed which impresses across the diode a reverse voltage substantially equal to the terminal voltage of the voltage source. The ammeter provides a reading of the cut-off current flowing through the diode. A parallel arrangement including a voltmeter and resistor are provided for doing a reverse voltage check on the diode and a calibration check on the ammeter as required.

Abstract: A liquid jet recorder having a jet ejecting arrangement, and which is connected to a pressure medium conduit for the jet-like ejection of an electrically-conductive recording liquid against a spot on a recording carrier. The liquid ejecting arrangement consists of a plurality of jet nozzles wich are jointly supplied from a common pump, which are so directed that the liquid jets ejected therefrom impinge directly adjacent each other against the recording carrier, and the liquid jets from all nozzles penetrate through a common control electrode. The number of jet nozzles in the inventive liquid jet recorder is coordinated with the desired image results and with the desired recording velocity.

Abstract: A subscriber line circuit for telecommunication systems in which additional message signals, e.g., video signals, can be transmitted is described. The line circuit is constituted by two balanced line pairs which, if necessary, can have line amplifiers interposed therein. A remote supply circuit for the amplifiers, constructed in the form of a phantom circuit, is used, and this phantom circuit is used, as well, as the transmission circuit for the additional message signals. A subscriber set for the additional message signals is connected to the phantom circuit. A feed to the latter subscriber set, as well as two way communication take place over the phantom circuit.

Abstract: A laser beam coupling arrangement for wide-band optical data switching systems, consisting of an electronically controllable, optical mask, a hologram, a waveguide matrix and a coherent light source employs dynamic hologram recording in which a sandwich structure is provided for hologram recording and comprises a transparent electrode, a photo-resistor layer, a dielectric reflector, electro-optical or electro-plastic material and a transparent counter-electrode between the controllable, optical mask and the inputs and outputs of the waveguides which are to be coupled.

Abstract: A machine tool wherein the carrier for several rotary work spindles is separably mounted on a base in such a way that the chucks of two spindles are spaced apart by equal distances from horizontal ways for two side slides each of which mounts a carriage for an indexible tool turret. If the treatment of a workpiece at one of the working stations takes up more time than the treatment of a workpiece at the other working station, the tools which have completed the treatment of a workpiece at the other station are moved to the one station to cooperate with the other tools in rapidly completing the treatment of the workpiece at the one station. The carrier may be a box-like structure with two spindles or a drum having more than two work spindles and being indexible in a headstock, which is separably secured to the base.

Abstract: Method of producing .gamma.-butyrolactams by reacting .gamma.-butyrolactones with ammonia in the presence or absence of water at elevated temperatures and pressures. The reaction is carried out continuously at temperatures ranging from 180.degree. to 340.degree.C whilst maintaining pressures which are at least 10 percent higher than the pressure equal to the sum of the partial pressures of the reactants at the temperature used. .gamma.-Butyrolactams are valuable intermediates, for example in the manufacture of polymers, pharmaceuticals and solvents.

Abstract: Process for the recovery of one or more components of a raw gas, absorbed by the scrubbing liquid during a physical gas scrubbing step, by expanding the laden scrubbing liquid, characterized in that the expanded, laden scrubbing liquid is stripped, before its final regeneration, with a gas consisting exclusively of one or more components of the raw gas and essentially free of the components to be recovered and to be scrubbed out.

Abstract: A method for producing alkali carbonate crystals, including adding to an alkali carbonate and alkali hydroxide solution stream a 10 to 75 weight-% alkali hydroxide solution, charging the resulting mixture into a CO.sub.2 -containing gas whose temperature is from 150.degree. to 700.degree.C, collecting mixture remaining as liquid from the gas at the end of a residence time of mixture in gas of 0.1 to 10 seconds, separating alkali carbonate crystals from the collected mixture, and feeding the collected mixture, following the separating, back in the alkali carbonate and alkali hydroxide solution stream for another adding of alkali hydroxide solution.

Abstract: The invention relates to a process for the production of polyacrylonitrile tows containing from 7 - 15 % by weight, preferably from 10 - 12 % by weight, of comonomer components from which it is possible to produce yarns having low boiling-induced shrinkage values and yarns and dimensionally stable made-up articles with improved textile properties which comprises reducing the tow-shrinkage emanating from the spinning and stretching process by 80 - 95 % of the original tow shrinkage by heat-fixing and eliminating subsequently the residual shrinkage by fixing with saturated steam.
