Abstract: A tablet containing at least amphotericin B deoxycholate, a substance with lubricating properties, a substance with disaggregating properties and a substance with aggregating properties, the tablet being usable in a device for preserving harvested corneas, in combination with a bottle (2) equipped with an openable and reclosable cap (7), where the bottle contains a sterile preserving liquid (3) having a pH of between 7.2 and 7.6 and wherein the tablet can be completely dissolved; in accordance with the method claimed, a harvested cornea being preservable in the preserving liquid in which the tablet has been dissolved, for up to at least 15 days at a temperature of between 2° C. and 10° C.

Abstract: A vitrectomy apparatus comprises a containment body (3), at least one supply device (4), (5) which can be fixed to an eyeball (6) and/or moved by an operator, feeding means (7) for the controlled feeding of at least one operating fluid, at least partly mounted in the containment body (3) and in turn comprising at least one main pipe (8) which is or can be connected to the supply device (4), (5), and at least one control unit (21) operatively connected at least to the feeding means (7) for controlling their operation. The vitrectomy apparatus (1) also comprises means for varying the temperature (11) of the operating fluid, being coupled with the feeding means (7) and/or with the supply device (4), (5), for varying the temperature of the operating fluid, the control unit (21) also being connected to the means for varying the temperature (11) in order to control their operation. In particular, the means for varying the temperature (11) can act as heating means (12), and comprise one or more Peltier cells (15).

Abstract: A kit of tamponing liquids comprising a first liquid having a density lower than 1.00 g/cm3 and a second liquid having a density higher than 1.00 g/cm3 which are immiscible with water and, at body temperature, one miscible with the other, for sequential use in the surgical treatment of tears and/or detachments of the retina, and a method for the treatment of tears and/or detachments of the retina using such liquids comprising the steps of injecting first the first liquid, or, respectively, the second liquid, into the vitreous cavity and maintaining it within the vitreous cavity for a determined period of time, thereafter injecting the second liquid, or respectively, the first liquid, into the vitreous cavity to mix with the other liquid and create with the latter a homogeneous solution having a density that is higher or lower than 1.00 g/cm3 respectively, if the first injected liquid had a density that was lower or higher than 1.00 g/cm3.

Abstract: Device for injecting into an eyeball a sterile liquid selected from amongst perfluorocarbons, comprising a tubular container body (3) having a first dispensing end (5) and a second end (6), and an adapter (4) for connecting a thrust fluid feed tube (6) to the second end (6). A first stopper (17) is inserted into the container body (3) in a sealed fashion and sterile liquid (2) is fed between the first stopper (17) and the first end (5). The adapter (4) consists of first and second connecting means (21), (22) to attach the adapter (4) to a feed tube (20) and to the second end (6), as well as first and second seal means (23), (24) to guarantee the fluid seal between the adapter (4) and the feed tube (20) and the container body (3). Abstract: The present invention relates to fluoroalkyloxy alkanes having formula (I): RF—R1—O—R2 wherein: RF is a linear or branched perfluoroalkyl group, having from 1 to 12, preferably from 2 to 8, carbon atoms; R1 is a linear or branched, non-fluorinated alkylene group, having from 1 to 6, preferably from 2 to 4, carbon atoms, —R2 is a linear or branched, non-fluorinated alkyl group, having from 1 to 12, preferably from 2 to 8, carbon atoms, possibly containing at least one ether bond —O— along the chain. The present invention further relates to a process for preparation and use thereof, possibly in mixture with at least one silicone oil, as medicaments in ophthalmology, in particular as tamponade liquids in an operation for the treatment of retinal detachment.
