Abstract: A sheath for an endotracheal intubation device includes an elongate flexible portion defining a closed conduit and an adjacent open channel defined by opposing lips for releasably retaining an endotracheal tube, and a rigid portion extending from a distal end of the flexible portion, the flexible portion including a gap in one of the lips adjacent the rigid portion to expose an edge of the rigid portion, the gap allowing the endotracheal tube to be pinched between the edge of the rigid portion and a lip of the flexible portion to enhance retention of the tube when an articulated arm disposed in the closed conduit is curved, and facilitate release of the tube when the arm is not curved.

Abstract: A detachable stylet assembly for endotracheal intubation of a patient is disclosed. The stylet comprises an elongated tube defining: a longitudinal axis, a proximal end for detachably mounting the stylet to a hand grip, and a distal end for entering the trachea of the patient. The tube comprises an articulation section adjacent the distal end adapted to curve into the trachea upon actuation. An actuator housing is mounted on and adjacent to the proximal end of the tube. An actuating assembly is constructed inside the actuator housing having connection means for engaging the hand grip. A control wire is mounted within the actuator housing and connected to the actuating assembly. The control wire extends through the tube to the distal end of the tube and is adapted to curve the articulation section upon actuation. The hand grip comprises a base handle and a trigger for manual actuation of the actuator assembly. The trigger comprises finger grooves for convenient gripping.

Abstract: A device for facilitating fluid delivery to the trachea of a patient which comprises, a tubular housing adapted to be sealably mounted on an elongate element of an endoscope for examining the trachea of the patient and configured to mount an adapter for an endotracheal tube for intubating the patient over and around the elongate element, the housing having at least one inlet into a cavity inside the housing for supplying at least a first fluid and an outlet for delivering the first fluid between the elongate element and an inside wall of the endotracheal tube mounted on the adapter.
Abstract: The disclosure generally relates to an endotracheal intubation device 100 including a channel element 120 that defines a first channel 122 and additional retaining structure that defines a second channel 140. The device 100 is reversibly movable between a first relaxed position A (e.g., a generally extended or straight position) and a second curved position B (e.g., an articulated, generally non-linear position) with an articulating means 160. An endotracheal tube 200 can be inserted into the second channel 140, and the intubation device 100 then can be used to intubate a patient P according to a disclosed intubation method.
