Patent number: 4341095Abstract: This garment is knit exclusively of cotton yarn and has sufficient stretchability and recoverability to properly fit several body sizes. The garment comprises single courses of large stitch loops (courses C-1, C-3 and C-5) of cotton body yarn (C) alternating with single courses of small stitch loops (courses C-2, C-4 and C-6) of cotton body yarn (C) extending throughout the main body portion of the garment. The courses of large stitch loops provide stretchability to the garment and the courses of small stitch loops provide density and opacity to the garment.Type: GrantFiled: May 2, 1980Date of Patent: July 27, 1982Assignee: Alba-Waldensian, IncorporatedInventor: Dewey E. Patent number: 4153054Abstract: The tubular surgical drape is adapted to cover a patient extremity and includes a pull sleeve concentrically rolled with a tubular stockinette to form a doughnut-shaped roll. The pull sleeve surrounds the outer wall of the doughnut-shaped roll and applies an unrolling force in a uniform manner completely around the rolled stockinette so as to provide for rapid and uniform application of the tubular stockinette to the patient extremity. Rupturable means, in the form of one or more tear lines, is provided along the length of the pull sleeve to provide for easy separation while the pull sleeve is being drawn along the patient extremity to unroll and apply the stockinette thereto.Type: GrantFiled: November 4, 1977Date of Patent: May 8, 1979Assignee: Alba-Waldensian, IncorporatedInventor: Walter S. Patent number: 4153050Abstract: A device for applying intermittent compression to a body member, such as a leg, of a patient is disclosed. This device has a highly elastic stocking of the antiembolism type with an inelastic external panel secured to a portion of the stocking's circumference to provide a bladder cavity and restrict circumferential stretching of only a portion of the stocking. The inelastic panel has an openable structure, and internal bladder retaining pockets. An inflatable bladder includes an inner shaping panel causing the bladder to more readily conform to the shin area of the leg.Type: GrantFiled: July 29, 1977Date of Patent: May 8, 1979Assignee: Alba-Waldensian, IncorporatedInventors: Robert C. Patent number: 4150442Abstract: The present protector includes a tubular sleeve which is stretchable in both longitudinal and circumferential directions and is adapted to provide a snug fit over the arm or foot of the patient and a pad carried by the sleeve. The pad is of substantially U-shaped transverse cross-sectional configuration and substantially V-shaped longitudinal cross-sectional configuration so as to receive and cushion the patient's elbow or heel therein. The pad includes a pair of opposite side panels defining opposite sides of the U-shaped transverse cross-sectional configuration and a pair of superpositioned substantially rectangular bottom panels providing additional padding in the central portion and defining the V-shaped longitudinal cross-sectional configuration.Type: GrantFiled: June 12, 1978Date of Patent: April 24, 1979Assignee: Alba-Waldensian, IncorporatedInventor: Walter S. Patent number: 4149274Abstract: The present hosiery article includes an anti-slip lower sole portion formed with outwardly extending loops of yarn having a high coefficient of friction, such as bare spandex, which is integrally knit with the body yarn during the knitting of the foot portion of the hosiery article. The loops of friction yarn on the outer surface of the sole portion engage the floor and minimize slippage of the foot of the wearer. This hosiery article is particularly adapted for use by bed patients and the formation of the loops of friction yarn does not unduly restrict the contraction and stretchability of the hosiery article.Type: GrantFiled: October 10, 1978Date of Patent: April 17, 1979Assignee: Alba-Waldensian, IncorporatedInventors: Louis W. Patent number: 3975929Abstract: This stocking is knit on a circular hosiery knitting machine and the upper end of the leg is provided with an upstanding and integrally knit extension with a narrow elastic band extending around the remaining portion of the upper end of the leg portion. Opposite ends of the elastic band are attached to opposite sides of the extension. The upper section of the leg portion, immediately below the band and the extension, is knit with alternate courses of covered spandex yarn and intervening courses of stretchable textured yarn. The spandex yarn and stretchable yarn are both alternately knit and tucked to provide a circumferentially enlarged area in this upper portion of the leg of the stocking.Type: GrantFiled: March 12, 1975Date of Patent: August 24, 1976Assignee: Alba-Waldensian, IncorporatedInventor: Oscar Fregeolle
