Patent number: 4744129Abstract: A holding device which is adapted to be flanged to a machine for filling and for automatically twisting off sausages and which acts on the front end of a twist-off nozzle of the machine via a brake ring housing for effecting automatic twisting off. For providing, on the one hand, a possibility of exactly positioning the holding device relative to the twist-off nozzle and for maintaining, on the other hand, the twist-off nozzle in a condition in which it is always accessible for the purpose of fitting new caterpillar sausage skins, the holding device is provided with a support tube, which is supported in a guide link in a manner free from play and which permits the brake ring housing of the holding device to be pivoted away in the case of a movement taking place in the horizontal direction of a pivotable lever, said support tube having, in addition, the effect that the position which has once been adjusted is re-established when the brake ring housing is pivoted back.Type: GrantFiled: January 16, 1987Date of Patent: May 17, 1988Assignee: Albert Handtmann Maschinenfabrik GmbH & Co. Patent number: 4723581Abstract: A process and apparatus for drawing off deformable masses containing air, such as sausage masses. The mass is transferred in a stream from a supply space into a filling cylinder where a vacuum is generated relative to the space to remove air from the mass, and the transferred mass is then ejected from the filling cylinder by means of a piston. To transfer the mass quickly and remove air from it completely, the mass stream is guided, during its transfer into the filling cylinder in such a way that, as it enters the filling cylinder, it first moves towards the cylinder wall at an angle to the direction of the piston. Moreover, during filling the level of mass in the filling cylinder is maintained at an essentially constant filling height so that a constant volume of free space remains above the mass in the filling cylinder.Type: GrantFiled: December 15, 1986Date of Patent: February 9, 1988Assignee: Albert Handtmann Maschinenfabrik GmbH & Co., KGInventors: Georg Staudenrausch, Thomas Handtmann, Manfred Kern, Jurgen Schraivogel, Georg Zinser, Franz Abt, Siegfried Reutter, Einar Fesseler

Apparatus for consecutively metering discrete amounts of a divisible mass, particularly sausage-meat
Patent number: 4451954Abstract: Apparatus for consecutively metering discrete amounts of a divisible mass, particularly sausage meat, including feeding means (7, 96) for said mass adapted to be operated in time with the metering operation and followed by a power-operated cutoff device, the control element (6) of which is adapted to be controlled by a measuring device (28, 29, 30) also effective to control the control element (9) of the feeding means (7, 96) in proportion to the mass flowing therethrough, wherein positive control and coordination of the movements of the cutoff device (1) and the feeding means (7, 96) and substantially full utilization of the installed driving power at any moment is accomplished by providing that the control elements (6, 9) for the cutoff device (1) and the feeding means (7, 96) are actuated by one and the same fluid and are interconnected in series and/or by providing that the control element (6) for the cutoff device (1) is continually supplied with the full fluid flow from a fluid pressure source (10).Type: GrantFiled: December 29, 1981Date of Patent: June 5, 1984Assignee: Albert Handtmann GmbH & Co.Inventors: Johann Muller, Georg Staudenrausch -
Patent number: 4434527Abstract: A sausage skin storage and feeder apparatus comprises a storage container for storing a plurality of layers of shirred sausage casings, an upwardly sloping bottom wall in said container, a conveyor disposed along the bottom wall for transporting the bottom layer of casings upwardly to a discharge location, the upper layers of casings rolling backward in the container, a chute extending from the discharge location to a loading location opposite a stuffing horn and means for dispensing casings onto the stuffing horn.Type: GrantFiled: May 21, 1981Date of Patent: March 6, 1984Assignee: Albert Handtmann GmbH & Co.Inventors: Georg Staudenrausch, Hans-Ernst Weerth

Patent number: 4347646Abstract: A pickup 21 is connected with a portioning element that carries out individual portioning operations between two portioning pauses. By means of a sensor 22 and a counter 29 the actual values of the portioning operation steps are measured and are compared in a comparator 35 with a desired value from a desired-value setter 30. When the actual value reaches the desired value the programmed controller 27 for the next portioning operation and simultaneously the counter 29 is reset via the line 38. Thus the overrun of the portioning element after switching off is counted for the next portion. With each difference between desired value and actual value of a preceding portioning operation thus effectively the remaining desired value for the next portioning step is corrected.Type: GrantFiled: January 4, 1980Date of Patent: September 7, 1982Assignee: Albert Handtmann GmbH & Co.Inventor: Georg Staudenrausch

Patent number: 4112546Abstract: A strand of sausage filling is pushed stepwise through a tube over which is fitted an empty sausage casing such that as the strand emerges stepwise from the downstream end of the tube it fills the casing. The filled casing is gripped between a pair of conveyor belts whose spacing is predetermined and is pulled away from the tube stepwise synchronously with the advance of the strand in the tube. Between advance steps of the strand and of the filled casing the tube is rotated such that the casing is twisted to form individual sausage links. The instantaneous speed at which the conveyor pulls the filled casing from the tube is proportional to the instantaneous speed of the strand in the tube. The spacing between the conveyor belts may also be varied automatically as a function of the overall conveyor operating speed.Type: GrantFiled: September 30, 1976Date of Patent: September 12, 1978Assignee: Firma Albert HandtmannInventor: Johann Muller

Patent number: 4091505Abstract: An apparatus for suspending loops of sausage links comprises a pickup member rotatable about a pickup axis and having an arm inclined at an angle to this axis and reaching toward a feeder for sausage links forming a chain. The feeder advances the sausage links along a feed axis which is laterally offset from the pickup axis. A drive rotates the pickup member so that the arm orbits the axis of the sausage chain and engages the latter between sausage links to suspend the latter in loops from the pickup member.Type: GrantFiled: March 11, 1977Date of Patent: May 30, 1978Assignee: Firma Albert HandtmannInventors: Johann Muller, Georg Staudenrausch
