Abstract: A lubricator is provided which has a unitized body with at least one port in communication with the body's bore and its outer surface, to which port(s) connectors with different outer fittings for further connection to other equipment may be attached and sealed, and later detached and replaced with other connectors. The connectors may have different outer fittings or may be a plug or valve. This allows the connection of a single port to external equipment to be changed and the fitting for that external equipment's connection to be altered, without having to disconnect the lubricator from its well-head and stem or any of the lubricator's other connections.

Abstract: A slide blind controls flow through conduits at a flanged connection. The slide blind has a right and left working plates configured such that one of the working plates is sealed between the flanges a perimeter thereof adjacent to inner sides of the flange bolts. A joiner member connects the right and left working plates, and handle members extend in right and left directions from the corresponding working plates. The joiner and handle members have a thickness less than the thickness of the right and left working plates. The handle members and the joiner member define first and second sets of bolt holes to fasten the slide blind with either the right or left working plate between the flanges. The joiner and handle members are significantly lighter weight than the working plates, and can be removed for convenient transport.

  • Publication number: 20140077034
Abstract: The system and apparatus of the present invention is generally comprised of a non-dedicated, temporarily-installed, aircraft observer bubble door, chair, sonotube ejection system, mission electronics LRU rack and workstation assembly which are affixed to the Air Deployment System (ADS) rails, cargo tie down “D” rings, seat belt restraint ring bolt sockets, and litter bar of a host aircraft, thereby precluding the requirement for dedicated airframe modifications. One embodiment of the present invention also utilizes a multi-axis, articulated, foldable chair temporarily-installed in conjunction with a segmented or one piece pressurized observer bubble door plug and door refraction system. Once installed the subject apparatus can be stowed outboard of the fuselage cargo transit envelope to permit use of the ADS rail system in-flight, without affecting normal air drop operations, crew egress, the flight performance envelope, or emergency procedures of the host aircraft.

  • Patent number: 8662251
Abstract: Fall protection for personnel servicing an elevated work area from a man lift. A bridge is pivotally mounted to a working edge of the man lift. The bridge pivots between a stored position and a substantially horizontal operative position. The bridge has a pivotally mounted edge, a remote edge opposite to the pivotally mounted edge and opposed sides. An expandable enclosure is anchored to the man lift. The enclosure is movable between a collapsed position and an expanded position. In the collapsed position, the enclosure is collapsed parallel to and provides fall protection along the working edge of the man lift. In the expanded position, the enclosure provides fall protection for the opposed sides of the bridge in the operative position and provides fall protection in the work area by enclosing a portion of the work area beyond the remote edge of the bridge.

  • Patent number: 8665667
Abstract: A computer-implemented method includes providing a first velocity model obtained from a vertical seismic profile survey representative of an upper region of a subterranean formation. Wavefields from the first velocity model are datumed using wave equations to a datum line between the upper region and a target area beneath the upper region to obtain datumed wavefields. The method further includes obtaining interferometric common shot data and interferometric common midpoint data from the datumed wavefield using wave equations at the datum line. The first velocity model, the datumed wavefield, wavefield equations, and the interferometric common midpoint data are then used to generate a second velocity model representative of velocities in the target area.

  • Patent number: 8657230
Abstract: Particular embodiments comprise a non-dedicated, temporarily installed, airborne special mission payload mounting system which is mechanically interfaced to the Air Deployment System (ADS) rails of a host cargo aircraft. An Adaptive Mounting Plate (AMP) is placed over an ADS rail section and restrained in position. Once the AMP is secured, an articulated or fixed position strut can be attached to it through the opened side doorway without removing the original door. Once the fixed position or articulated strut is bolted to the AMP, a one piece or segmented two piece pressurized door plug indented along its lower periphery to accommodate the protruding form factor of the fixed position or articulated strut is installed within the vacant doorway above the strut providing an airtight seal and thereby permitting pressurization of the aircraft.

  • Patent number: 8584758
Abstract: A process for fracturing a lined well uses a packer assembly in a liner string that provides a cement-free segment and interface with the formation. The device has multiple packers with inflatable elements that are run as an integral assembly. After the liner assembly is positioned, cement is circulated into the assembly and wiped from the interior of the liner string into the annulus. Pressure within the liner string is elevated to initiate time delays for the radial inflation of the packer elements. The inflation radially and axially displaces the cement surrounding the elements before the cement sets. Each packer is subsequently opened to expose the frac ports in the packer directly to the formation for frac operations.

  • Publication number: 20130299020
Abstract: The invention relates to a hydraulic manifold apparatus and system, connectable to a dual stage motor, for use in the topdrive of drilling operations. The hydraulic manifold is switchable between a low speed, high torque configuration and a high speed, low torque configuration. Valves within the manifold control the flow of working fluid through the manifold and into and out of the motor. Switching means are further provided to control the opening and closing of the valves. In the low speed, high torque configuration, working fluid enters each stage of the dual motor simultaneously, in parallel. In the high speed, low torque configuration, working fluid enters a first stage of the motor, returns to the hydraulic manifold, then enters a second stage of the motor, before returning again to the hydraulic manifold. Thus during high speed, low torque operation, working fluid enters each stage of the dual motor in series.

  • Patent number: 8523135
Abstract: A device that facilitates the support of a post or shaft in such a way that the post is connected rigidly to a foundation or otherwise connected to a fixed position. If a condition arises that causes the post to become stressed physically the device will allow separation of the post from a mounting on the foundation or fixed position before the said post is physically damaged. The post itself may be round, square, rectangular, channel shape, or any other shape in profile. In some cases the post is the primary support for such things as roadside sign posts, signs, signals, lights, warnings, or markers, that are commonly held by the roadside in a fixed and elevated position so that they are easily visible to passing motorists, cyclists, or pedestrians. The device can also be used to support other types of signs, signals, or devices unrelated to traffic or transport.

  • Patent number: 8469126
Abstract: Motorized vehicles having hydraulic tools as attachments are well known. Examples includes road graders, excavators, snow ploughs (and nursery equipment such as tree spades, tree movers and tree handling equipment), tractors, front loaders, and skid steers. A single hydraulic tool may be controlled by a simple manually operated hydraulic control system if the operation of the hydraulic tool is not complex. The use of “Electric over Hydraulic control” is more commonly used for hydraulic attachments with more complex functionality. A typical electric over hydraulic control system uses a bundle of wires; in which each wire in the bundle is dedicated to a particular operational feature of the attachment. These wires are prone to failure as a result of the wear and tear they are exposed to during normal use of the equipment. This, in turn, has led to proposals for the use of a wireless control system.

  • Publication number: 20130126448
Abstract: The system and method is directed to improved separation or clarification of solids from a solids-laden liquid, including the removal of low gravity solids. A liquid to be treated is introduced into the inlet of a solid-liquid separator modified to include one or more sources of vibrational energy. The liquid is directed through a conduit within the separator. This conduit can be configured into a tortuous flow path to assist in the separation of solids from the liquid, the tortuous path being interconnected between two separation towers. Vibrational energy and gas sparging is applied to the flow path. As solids fall out of solution, they are collected. The clarified liquid is also collected. A vacuum can be applied to the system to assist in moving the solid-liquid mixture through the system and to provide vacuum clarification. Electrocoagulation electrodes can also be employed.
