Abstract: An ankle brace to be used for therapy and prevention of orthopedic injuries in the ankle joint area, the ankle brace is comprised of a main brace body (1) having a shank or lower leg covering portion (2) and a foot covering portion (4), an inner stay (22) and an outer stay (23) which are each detachably mounted, and a coupling or connecting belt (24) for connecting the two stays together. The lower leg covering portion (2) is able to be opened and closed at its front side through the use of surface fasteners (9 and 10) and includes a plurality of fastening belts (15 to 18). The foot covering portion (4) is coupled or connected to the lower end of the lower leg covering portion (2) and is able to be opened and closed at its front side through the use of a surface fastener (12) and is provided with at least one stretchable belt (20, 21).

Abstract: Skin barrier paste compositions free from organic solvents comprised of at least a rubber component and a filler component wherein the rubber component includes a liquid rubber having an average molecular weight of about 1,000 to about 80,000 and a viscosity of about 200 poise to about 6,000 poise at 40.degree. C., the rubber component being present in the paste composition in the range of about thirty percent to about seventy percent by weight. The present inventive paste compositions can be freely formed with the fingertips or a spatula; they are less irritating to the skin, mucosa and/or the injured area; and they are less susceptible to a viscosity change when exposed to the atmosphere, thus assuring an ease of application and a stable paste formulation when stored in a container.

Abstract: An ultrasonic cutter suitable for cutting a fixation dressing used for orthopedic treatment of affected body parts so as to remove the dressing from an orthopedically bandaged body part, wherein in order to ensure structural simplification as well as a safe and easy cutting operation, the ultrasonic cutter includes a cutting blade (4) which is provided with a cutting edge on a side face (4A) only thereof, the leading end portion (4B) of the cutting blade (4) being round in shape and being provided with no cutting edge.

Abstract: A composite stretch fabric is disclosed that is comprised of a laminate of three layers, the center layer being comprised of a web of a nonwoven polyurethane resin with a basis weight in the range of 50-250 g/m.sup.2 and an air permeability of at least 10 cc/sec/cm.sup.2 with stretchable fabric layers adhered to each side thereof, one of which can be a nylon pile and the other of which is a double knit fabric that can be of porous, hollow fiber for sweat absorption, the composite can also be embossed.

Abstract: Sheet-like compositions that can be used to form orthoses or orthopedic devices to conform to any shape of a body part. The sheet-like compositions include a pliant sheet impregnated with a viscous water-curable resin that hardens when exposed to water. Both sides of the pliant sheet are covered with individual composite fabric portions, each composite fabric being of a triple-layered structure comprising a front face, a back face and an interconnecting portion, each composite fabric having sufficient open knit or weave to allow the passage of air and moisture therethrough. In some embodiments, a closed-cell foam material may be interposed between one side of the pliant sheet and one of the composite fabric portions, and adhesive means may likewise be incorporated into the overall structure to prevent dislodgement of the pliant sheet, the fabric portions and the foam cell material.

Abstract: A urinary collector device for men including a urinary collector body formed into a bag shape and constructed of soft, flexible water-proof material, the urinary collector body having a first or upper portion formed into a penis receiving chamber which includes an opening for enabling a penis to be inserted therethrough into such chamber. The urinary collector body also includes a second opposite or lower portion which forms a urinary flow chamber which is separated from the penis receiving chamber by a water permeable membrane. The urinary flow chamber is packed with hydrophobic material having a plurality of passages therethrough and includes a urinary discharge outlet.
