Abstract: A connector element for a two-part coupling connector having a wire holding part (9) and a contact holding part (5) axially supporting within its boundary at least one insulation displacement element (6). The contact holding part includes a contact spring (8) arranged to resiliently urge a shielding braid pig-tail of a cable whose insulated conductors (14, 15, 16 and 17) are held by the wire holding part, into a recess (20) in the contact holder part for providing a resilient electrical contact with the shield.

Abstract: A panel mounting electrical coupling connector element comprising a housing (7) in which are supported a plurality of mateable contact elements (9, 10) whose rear ends terminate in insulation-penetrating slotted blades (12, 13 and 14) that are respectively located in wire-guide channels at the rear of the housing (7). The connector includes a hinged clamp (17) arranged such that when insulated wires (25, 26 and 27) are laid in respective wire-guide channels and the hinged clamp is closed, protuberances on the hinged clamp urge the insulated wires into the slots of the slotted blades thereby making electrical contact between the conductor of the wires and the mateable contact elements.

Abstract: A cord grip arrangement for relieving mechanical strain on cord conductors (15, 16) of an electrical connector assembly comprising a first shell member (19) and a second shell member (26). The cord grip arrangement comprises a base member (1) from which two limbs (4, 5) extend to form a hinged jaw. One limb is provided with an inwardly extending protuberance (7) which co-operates with a space (8) defined by two shoulders (9, 10) in the other limb when the jaws are held closed over cable 14 by being restrained within second shell member (26) of an assembled electrical connector assembly. Such an arrangement ensures That both the outer sheath and the terminated inner conductors of the cord are securely gripped.
