Abstract: Various embodiments provide a method and apparatus providing signaling protocol overload control by enhancing hop-by-hop overload control using cooperation between an “upstream server” or Sending Entity (SE) and the server receiving the signaling request messages and replying with signaling reply messages for a session the “downstream server” or Receiving Entity (RE). In particular, an overload control mechanism for a signaling request transmitted between an SE and the RE allows the RE to receive from the SE a predicted load based on the original un-throttled signaling load information at the SE. The RE may then base decisions such as an overload trigger or a resource scaling decision based on the received un-throttled predicted load at the SE.

Abstract: Apparatus for amplifying signal such as a burst mode signal in an optical network. A doped fiber, for example an erbium-doped fiber is placed in a preferably passive module along an optical data transmission path. A pump port is optically connected to at least one combiner such as a WDM (wavelength division multiplexor) that is placed along the optical transmission path to add in a pump wavelength in the vicinity of the doped fiber. The apparatus, which is preferably completely passive, may be advantageously placed in communication with a remote pump light source such as a pump laser resident on a management node of the network. A second pump port may be added, as well as one or more detector ports to facilitate operation of a remote control processor, which may also be resident in a management node such as an OLT (optical line terminal) in a PON (passive optical network).

Abstract: An outdoor stackable telecommunications equipment cabinet family and a method of deploying an outdoor telecommunications equipment cabinet. In one embodiment, the family includes: (1) a plurality of selectable cabinet modules and (2) a plurality of selectable plinth modules, at least one of the plurality of selectable cabinet modules and one of the plurality of selectable plinth modules configured to be selected and stacked to form an outdoor telecommunications equipment cabinet that includes an air filter and at least one fan.

Abstract: A method of determining a bias parameter for a heterogeneous network including a small cell, a macro cell, and one or more user equipment (UEs), the small cell being underlaid with respect to the macro cell, includes determining, at a base station of the small cell, a loading state of the macro cell; and setting, at the base station, the bias parameter based on the determined loading state. A method of determining a cell border window (CBW) for the small cell, the small cell being underlaid with respect to the macro cell, the small cell having a plurality of attached UEs which are divided into inner cell UEs and border cell UEs, includes determining, at the base station, a difference value based on utilization values of the inner cell UEs and the border cell UEs; and adjusting the CBW based on the difference value and a threshold value.
