Abstract: A method and system is provided for minimizing resynchronization delays in a digital microwave radio system by, immediately upon detecting a signal degradation such as a loss of signal or an out-of-specification signal at any one of a series of digital microwave radio transmitters, setting the transmitter's elastic buffer to an average condition and thereby minimizing frequency offsets at all downstream transmitters and receivers during the degradation period.
Abstract: For fiber-to-the-curb program switching, which is done at the central office, the same fixed frequency slot is always used for distributing the TV program selected for a video recording device at the subscriber's premises; for its related display, another selected slot is always used for distributing another selected TV program; the set-top converter is provided with two narrow band filters, one for each dedicated slot, instead of expensive tuners; the same set-top converter can be used in other rooms of the subscriber premises, except using a plug-in tuner for placing additional selected TV programs received from remaining, nondedicated slots into the same filter band used for the TV associated with the video recording device.
Abstract: A method and system construct an O-tree and I-tree for a rearrangeably-blocked digital symmetrical matrix (DSM) network. The method includes the steps of receiving a plurality of parameters including a tree forming instruction for forming the I-tree and O-tree, an input switch parameter, an output switch parameter, and middle switch parameters. From these parameters, the method and system yield a set of feasible nodes for rearranging the DSM network to make the desired connection. The method and system are modified to terminate at the first feasible node of a modified I-tree or a modified O-tree. Also, both a rearrangement method and system and a DSM network control method and system are provided that use either the I-tree and O-tree construction process or the modified I-tree and modified O-tree construction process. Furthermore, a parallel rearrangement algorithm is provided for even further enhancement.
