  • Patent number: 8971199
Abstract: A service quality metrics selection capability is presented. The selection of service quality metrics for a service may include selecting a plurality of candidate service quality metrics for a service from a set of available service quality metrics, associating each of the candidate service quality metrics with a respective one of a plurality of user experience categories and a respective one of a plurality of service user functions of the service, and selecting at least a portion of the candidate service quality metrics to be associated with the service. The selection of candidate service quality metrics to be associated with the service produces a set of selected service quality metrics for the service, which may be used to manage service quality assurance for the service.

  • Patent number: 8971216
Abstract: In a multimedia call center (MMCC) operating through an operating system, a client-specific self-help wizard is provided for active clients and updated periodically with information related to client transaction history with the MMCC. A connected client is presented by the wizard with a selective media function through which the client may a select a media type for interaction and help, and the MMCC will then re-contact the client through the selected media. The client, for example, may select IP or COST telephony, and the MMCC will place a call to the client to a number or IP address listed for the client, and interactivity will then be through an interactive voice response unit. Help information specific to a client is updated in the client's wizard periodically according to ongoing transaction history with the MMCC. The wizard may also monitor client activity with the wizard and make reports available to various persons.

  • Patent number: 8973125
Abstract: In a communication network, assume a first computing device is an end user device, a second computing device is a gateway server, and a third computing device is an application server. A method comprises the following steps. The second computing device authenticates one or more packets received from the first computing device. The second computing device marks the one or more packets with a first-layer identity before routing the one or more packets toward the third computing device such that the third computing device is able to authenticate the one or more packets from the first computing device by confirming an association between the first-layer identity and a second-layer identity. For example, the first-layer identity may comprise a link layer identity assigned to the first computing device and the second-layer identity may comprise an application layer identity assigned to the first computing device.

  • Patent number: 8972803
Abstract: Methods and apparatuses for fault detection in a component associated with an application programming interface platform are provided. In an embodiment, the component is determined to have been invoked to process a transaction. A forward progress counter is monitored to determine whether the component is processing the transaction, wherein the forward progress counter increments at determined intervals when the component is processing the transaction. A test transaction is executed for the component when a determination is made that the forward progress counter has not incremented for a threshold fault period. A fault alarm indicator is generated based on the determination that the forward progress counter has not incremented for the threshold fault period.

  • Patent number: 8973077
Abstract: The invention relates to a method of streaming video content from a server to a client over a channel via a network. Video content is offered as a set of consecutive fragments, each fragment of said set of consecutive fragments being offered in a plurality of quality levels corresponding to respective encoded data rates. The method comprises a session of transmitting one or more of requests for fragments and receiving via the network one or more replies to the requests containing fragments with target quality levels at said client. These fragments are displayed at said client. At a capture node requests and/or replies to the requests of the session are captured. The captured data is used to reconstruct at least part of the session as experienced (QoE) at the client.

  • Patent number: 8971236
Abstract: System and a method for timely interconnecting elements of a wide spread remote measurement, monitoring or data collection system through multiplexing in a satellite system. The invention provides multiplexing features of a satellite system using on-board processing features to gather data from a plurality of remote monitoring stations (4) on any global navigation reference time and multiplex them into a single stream towards one or more computation centers. Each of said computation centers (3) has a down-link adapter (7) capable of extracting a channel from a down-link transmission of a satellite. The data from each of said remote monitoring stations (4) is also passed through an up-link adapter (5) so as to make it suitable for uplink transmission towards a DDBS satellite. Up-link and down-link adapters can be interconnected together to enable loop-back of information such as timing data to monitor transit times.

  • Publication number: 20150055953
Abstract: In an automatically switched optical network operating according to a wavelength plan, the wavelengths are assigned to an optical path based on availability, performance and SRS wavelength coupling reduction. First, the wavelengths are grouped in static bins based on their reach versus cost performance, and each bin assumes a ?Q of a middle wavelength. Then, the bins are moved into subsets of dynamic bins, constructed using bin constraints that account for the particulars of the respective optical path. The path is characterized taking into account the wavelength currently accessing at the end nodes, and the wavelength tandeming through the end nodes. Wavelength selection starts with the bins that satisfy the maximum number of constraints, and the wavelengths are checked sequentially against wavelength constraints; relaxed constraints are also applied when it is not possible to exactly satisfy one or more constraints.

  • Patent number: 8964532
Abstract: A wireless communication device includes more than one radio. A lossless switching module allows for selectively using one of the radios in a standby mode. The switching module allows for switching in the standby radio in the event that another radio fails without introducing any loss. In disclosed examples, switching module inputs coupled with inactive or failed radio output ports are coupled to an impedance corresponding to the associated radio. Disclosed examples are also useful for combining the outputs of more than one radio under selected circumstances.
