Abstract: An aqueous-based disinfecting composition is disclosed. The composition can include hydrogen peroxide at a concentration of 0.1 to 0.9% w/w, caprylic acid, or a salt thereof, at a concentration of 0.1 to 1% w/w, salicylic acid, or a salt thereof at a concentration of 0.1 to 1% w/w, and water. The composition does not include or is substantially free of a volatile C1-C7 alcohol, and the pH of the composition is from about 0.1 to about 6, and the composition is capable of exhibiting mycobactericidal activity against mycobacteria on a surface when the composition is in contact with the mycobacteria for at least 1 minute.
