  • Publication number: 20150104683
Abstract: The invention concerns a battery pack (1), comprising a plurality of electrically connected battery cells (2), wherein the battery cells (2) are substantially flat with two opposite sides (2a, 2b) and a peripheral edge (2c), and wherein the battery cells (2) are arranged side by side as to form a layered structure, and an electronic arrangement configured to monitor and control the battery cells (2). The invention is characterized in that the electronic arrangement comprises a plurality of individual electronic circuit units (30), each of which being associated with a corresponding battery cell (2), wherein each of the electronic circuit units (30) is configured to be capable of monitoring and controlling its corresponding battery cell (2), and wherein each electronic circuit unit (30) is arranged on a thin and flexible circuit carrying sheet (3) that is arranged at one of the sides (2a, 2b) of the corresponding battery cell (2). The invention also concerns a method for manufacturing of a battery pack (1).

  • Publication number: 20130224532
Abstract: Battery assembly comprising a plurality of battery blocks, where each battery block comprises a first metal plate fixedly connected to the positive terminals of a plurality of rechargeable battery cell members and a second metal plate fixedly connected to the negative terminals of the cell members, further comprising a printed circuit board provided with an electronic circuit configured to monitor, control and/or balance said battery blocks, where the metal plates of subsequent battery blocks are fixedly connected to each other such that the battery blocks are electrically configured in series, and where the PCB is mechanically fixed to mounting flanges of the metal plates with mounting means that also provides an electric connection between the metal plates and the PCB. The advantage of the invention is that a self-supporting battery assembly that can be produced in a cost-effective way is provided.

  • Publication number: 20130227316
Abstract: Battery system comprising a plurality of control nodes, where each control node comprises an electronic circuitry containing control information adapted to control and monitor a battery assembly and further comprising circuitry for serial communication with other control nodes, where each control node is mounted to a battery assembly, and where each control node is adapted to receive a unique node number and to store the node number in a memory, where the assignment of a node number is performed when the control node is connected to a serial bus communication line for the first time. The advantage of the invention is that a battery module can easily be initiated by the battery system when it is connected to the system for the first time. There is thus no need to run a specific initiation process in the production of the module. The software version of a battery module is also checked during the initiation, which will prevent battery modules with outdated software to be used.
