    Abstract: In a centrifugal separator for separating solid particles from a liquid, a centrifugal rotor (2) has two axially separated end walls (13, 14) and a surrounding wall (17) arranged therebetween. The end walls (13, 14) and the surrounding wall (17) surround a separation chamber (20) in which there are arranged separation discs (21) and one or more conveyor screws (29, 62) for axial transportation of separated solid particles. According to the invention the end walls are connected with each other through a central member (15), which is dimensioned in a way such that during the rotor operation it will take up a substantial part, preferably at least 80%, of the forces acting axially on the end walls (13, 14) as a consequence of centrifugally generated pressure of liquid present in the separation chamber (20).

The heat transfer plates (2) are joined in pairs at a first contact plane to at least two plate pairs (16) along said inner edge portions (11). An outer edge portion of one of said plate pairs is brought to abutment at a second contact plane (20) to an outer edge portion of another of said plate pairs. The outer edge portions (10) are welded. The application also discloses a plate package produced in this manner.

    Abstract: In a particular type of centrifugal rotor for dividing a liquid mixture into one liquid phase having a low viscosity and one concentrate phase having a high viscosity, the concentrate phase on its way towards an outlet chamber (17) in the rotor has to flow through a vortex device (20). The vortex device has a property of admitting therethrough a larger flow of a liquid if this has a high viscosity than if it has a low viscosity. For making an operation for cleaning of the rotor and conduits for concentrate phase downstream of the rotor more efficient, a cleaning liquid, which has a low viscosity, is conducted not only through the vortex device (20) to said outlet chamber (17) for concentrate phase but to this outlet chamber (17) also through a separate passage (34). Thereby, it is guaranteed that a sufficient flow of cleaning liquid enters the concentrate outlet chamber (17) and from there can be pumped out of the rotor to the concentrate phase conduits downstream of the rotor.

They are situated at a distance from the rotational axis (R) of the centrifugal rotor and directed in a way such that the centrifugal rotor is subjected to a reaction force in its circumferential direction, when liquid flows out therethrough. An annular partition (9) arranged coaxially with the centrifugal rotor within the casing separates the separation chamber (11) from the outlet chamber (12). However, the two chambers communicate with each other through a space at the radially inner edge of the partition (9).

The separation channels extend axially from the distribution chamber (24) to a collecting chamber (25).

A locking member (19) engages the end portion to press the unit (15) axially against the casing to a determined position in relation to the tubular member.
